Top 10 Walking Tours in National Capital Territory of Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi

May 19, 2022 Mollie Coke

With stray monkeys, dogs and cows strolling the streets, you'll know you're in Dehli. Beyond these distractions, rich culture, fascinating history and architecture beckon. Temples and old moghul buildings cram crowded streets, best negotiated by motorized tut-tut or hired car and driver. Shopping bargains abound, particularly at Chandni Chowk, and restaurants favor vegetarians. Attractions include the towering Qutab Minar minaret, UNESCO World Heritage Site Lal Qila (Red Fort) and the vast Friday Mosque.

The tour guide was nice. There was a lot to see and we did it all. The guide was very detailed oriented and knew where he was going. He knew a lot about India and had lots to say about the culture and the different places we stopped to visit. We had time to go from shop to shop and each one was so nice. We ate really good food along the way. The nice part about this tour is that while you are walking around buying street food/chai, the tour guide pays for it and asks how much it is so I don't have to worry about taking out the money and counting it and such. The tour guide handles and gives the money to the street food people. Though this is not to be mistaken for it being free. We are still paying for it just once the day is over. It is nice not having to deal with money during the tutor. I would wear walking shoes for this tour, you walk a lot. It is safe to bring your own camera.

I have gotten to spend some time in India and this has been one of my favorite experiences. DK Sharma is extremely hospitable and fun. He knows the city very well and give you an inside look to daily life in Delhi. We had lots of amazing Indian food, chai, and many delicious sweets. We roamed through the exciting streets of Old Delhi and we met many wonderful people along the way. From the Chai walla, to restaurant owners, to friends DK Sharma knows in Old Delhi, it was a pleasure to be welcomed by the locals. We got to explore the famous wedding market, flower market, spice market, and so much more. We ended the day on a rooftop looking over Delhi. Sharma made the day very fun and enjoyable. We ate, we laughed, we danced, and I have grown to love India even more! I would highly recommend Bharat Safari for anyone wanting to experience more of Delhi!

I was slightly apprehensive as a lone female taking this trip but I shouldn’t have worried as I felt very well looked after by my driver, all the guides and staff in the hotels. It was a fabulous trip with my it was all fabulous with my favourite part being the Amber Fort and the City Palace in Jaipur! Mr Rawat was my driver and he was always punctual and I felt so safe as his driving skills were excellent unlike some of the other drivers on the road. All the guides at each location really brought the places to life and were all very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and took great photos too!! My trip in March was just before lockdown and the guides were all instructed to wear face masks which they did. The hotels were all really good in particular the Jaypee Palace in Agra. There were options to go shopping which I chose not to do and there was no hard sell on this which I really did appreciate. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone-it exceeded my expectations.

What an experience with Delhi by Locals! We had two days in Delhi prior to heading to Sri Lanka, and were able to do multiple tours with Pradeep in March 2020. This was right when things began to shut down due to the pandemic but the time spent in India was the highlight of the whole trip. We did a day at the Taj Mahal and Agra fort where we took the train and were met by our guide who took us all around. There were less crowds than usual given everything happening, which gave us room to explore the grounds and experience the majesty of the place. The second day was spent in Old Delhi and experiencing the slums. We got to see the spice market, a service at the Sikh temple, traveled the underground, drank chai and stumbled on a Bollywood filming. At the slums it was amazing seeing the work that Pradeep does with Learning by locals and getting to meet the students and all the kids so willing to practice their English with us. We got to experience the history, culture and human connection that I feel is at the heart of any great trip. I would highly recommend any experience offered by Pradeep and Delhi by Locals.
