Carya Tallaya - Casas de Campo

Project description Choosing to stay at countryside houses with an excellent quality and comfort, dare discover Carya Tallaya, a bold and comfortable project of tourism in a rural area among the best there is in the region behind and beyond the Coa River! Carya Tallaya is a family project with a marvelous architecture, where we have gathered the rustic and the modern to welcome at home with more and better comfort in your returns to your roots and origins and thus be able to benefit form a most deserved rest at an invigorating stay in search of the peace and quietness you long for. Carya Tallaya provides 4 magnificent houses (three T2 apartments and a T1) so beautiful and seductive as surprising, for the contrast these houses present between the traditional construction techniques of the exterior and the sophisticated contemporary and welcoming of the interiors. They all are fully equipped with a fire place and central heating kitchenette in a self-catering regime, supplied with all the necessary kitchen equipment: refrigerator, microwave, dish washer and glass ceramic stove plaque. Despite the exteriors of Carya Tallaya being shared by all houses these are independent and this allows for total privacy. The exterior areas cover a vegetable garden, a large lawn with trees and flower beds, a swimming pool and a social area, comprising a porch with a fire place for receptions and for the guests to socialize. The Carya Tallaya country houses are located in Vale das Eguas which is not only the smallest parish in the Sabugal municipality, its area comprising only 4,03 m2, but also the one with the lowest inhabitants number - only 38 people. It is also the parish with the highest aging index in Portugal, with 90% of the inhabitants over 65 years. We want you to get to know the smallest and 'oldest' but full of tenderness parish of Ribacoa - municipality of Sabugal and Portugal. Small in size but grand in charm. With few inhabitants but immense spots filled with harmony quietness and silence: Landscape till where the eye can see Paradisiac paths to the River Coa there so close with its river beach so sweet as charming Fantastic surroundings with a vast and rich historical patrimony Excellent central location in connection with the Historical Villages Central location in connection with the Five Castles Route Diversified and enchanting natural beauty Proximity to the Malcata Mountain Range Natural Reserve The sympathy and humbleness of the local people The splendid Cro Thermal Facilities with its SPA & Wellness services which are five minutes away We intend to provide to those who come to us a return to the origins, a very close contact with the past with the immense and powerful historical patrimony which ranges from the final Bronze Age passing through the roman and medieval periods up to our days. This may be your opportunity to get to know the Five Castles Route of the Sabugal municipality, the Malcata Mountain Range Natural Reserve and the chance to visit some of the marvelous Historical Villages of the region (Sortelha, Castelo Mendo, Almeida, Belmonte and Castelo Rodrigo). To finish your journey we have the ideal suggestion for a most deserved relax: the state of the art Cro Thermal Facilities where you may recover your strength at Cro Ludic, enjoy a fantastic experience at Cro Classic or offer your body a luxury treatment at Cro Corpus. The programs and activities at the Carya Tallaya houses are of a much diversified offer. Should you prefer to rest, you may choose to stay within the small complex enjoying the warmth of a fire place if the weather is cold or, when the days are hot, profit from a refreshing swim in the original swimming pool, located in the rustic garden. Should you like walking, the isolated and quiet village allows for unique experiences with all that can be appreciated with the utmost tranquility. Adventure yourself through various paths to appreciate the natural and historical patrimony within the surroundings (Coa River and its margins, small woods and forests, observation of local fauna and flora, ruins of water mills, imposing castles and magnanimous medieval bridges). For the young and the daring adult donkey, horse or pony walks may be provided. For those with more specific or radical tastes there is also the possibility of renting canoes at the Coa River, at the fluvial beach, the possibility of fishing, bike riding and more radical activities at ParKoa (radical sports park) there so close (Coa source) Meaning of the Carya Tallaya name and of the logo (dandelion) The name - Carya Tallaya - with a slight adaptation, was the toponym adopted due to the fact that it appears in several historical documents as a fortified village of extreme relevance in the region from which derived Vale das Eguas, and we intend to pay tribute to history, as this is a 'reconciliation' project with our past but valuing the present in celebrating life and existence in an balanced equilibrium with our origins.

Unique, Freshly Modern in Preserved Rural

Reviewed By TravelsMoore

Stumbled upon this uniquely different approach on the B&B concept while seeking Guarda, Portugal lodging options. For example, this property is listed under "Specialty Lodging" but offers B&B type experience. Nestled remotely in the tiny village (population: 38) of Vale das Equas ("Valley of the Mares") in the modestly magnificent countryside about 24 minutes drive from the larger town of Sabugal, preserving the charming older local stone exterior appearances, a family has transformed small compound of buildings into tastefully modern and cozy comfortable separate private "cottages" (called their "Casas"). Besides the privacy, we also delighted in the wood-burning "fire-box" (sort of modern metal enclosed heataltor and not an open traditional fireplace). With outside temps below freezing, between the fire-box and ample tall modern room radiators, we were quite comfortable. Both the bathroom and it's fully enclosed shower were large and nicely designed into the house's rock wall. Also a much appreciated full-power hair dryer and quality shampoo products. However, please know when the property says "double bed", they mean as in American double bed size (not queen or close to king). Linen is high quality, clean and fresh. Unit includes electric cook-top, combo microwave/broiler, small higher-end refrigerator, dishwasher (wiry added expense of soap if requested) and nice, newer set of dishes, glasses as well as cooking/serving pieces. Breakfast includes picnic size basket arriving around 9:30A and secured outside front door on large metal hook. Inside is typically some bread product, jams and fresh fruit as well as "blended" juice. Refrigerator comes with few other items like fresh cheese and sliced ham for breakfast. Again, very unique, remotely private and charming place. Payment is required in cash and in advance to secure reservation. Also, highly recommend asking for "specific" driving directions to finding not only Vale das Equas (not illustrated on some maps), but also the compound (although couple small signs in town). Lastly - while they offer restaurant recommendations, similar to other hotels/B&Bs, theses are not always reflective of great choices. Therefore, whenever possible suggest doing own research ahead using TripAdvisor to confirm what you may be getting into. For example, one restaurant not mentioned at all was "Casa da Esquila" in the nearby town of Casteleiro, and was an incredible find - so much, the extraordinary and highly personal dining was among our most memorable experiences ever!

Tranquilidade

Gostamos e descansamos bem.

Traditional Hotel

Reviewed By royandi

We spent two nights in this hotel in Vila Nova de Foz Coa. It was a lovely building in a good location in the town. It was very clean and the breakfast was varied and very nice. Anyone that loves traditional buildings and furnishing would love it here but to us it seemed very dark and dreary. The lady that seemed to do everything in the hotel was friendly and helpful. She had very little English and we had even less Portuguese!! We managed very well between us. The downside was that when we checked in,she had no idea that we were due to arrive although we had booked months before. We had email confirmation and we had actually spoken to the owner by telephone. Also, when we checked out we were unable to pay by credit card which was inconvenient. I don’t think we’d stay here again but only because it wasn’t to our taste.

A dream accomodation to get energized and relaxed

Reviewed By Landa4u

This is a very charming place to stay with houses that one rents. Two roms with 2 beds in each. The place was set up in 2015 and the rooms looks like it was yesterday. Beds could compete with any 5 star hotel and win. Easy. The coupe running the place are very helpful and a living evidence of the word ”hospitality”. There is a common area where breakfast is server and it is possible to relax, ping-Pong is one option. The only negative is that you need to have a car to get there. But once there the forrests and villages around is an excellent reason to go there.

A room in the attics, with everything, in a very quiet place, with wonderful views of the mountains and of the sky. The best for a quiet day. 2 km far from Sazes da Beira (small village). Better would be a bit more close to this village. And a better swimming pool (too small).
