Here lies the sandy beach of Kakome, one of the most beautiful stretches of unspoilt beach that can be found on the Albanian coast. The bay used to be home to an army base and access might be limited during some periods. It has a fine white sand and gravel; the variation of blue sea and the surrounding greenery make it a true paradise. St. Mary's Monastery rises above the hill in the interior part of Kakome Bay, far from the inhabited center.. The position of the monastery and the architectural - constructive level of the remaining buildings testify to its importance and values. The highlight of your day will be a visit to Butrint – an UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the centuries, the ancient town had disappeared under layers of silt and vegetation. In recent years, however, archaeologists have uncovered some of the finest working town remains in the Mediterranean. At the edge of the lake is the ancient city of Vouthrota.
