Booked a number of excursions through Travelocity using Albatravel. Really disappointed with our experience. We showed up at the train station in Venice per our instructions where it states, "Meet in xyz office." When we got there no one was there to meet us. The train station didn't know what to do with our vouchers. So needless to say we contacted Albatravel who responded promptly via email stating they had sent us everything we need in email. (referring to vouchers). First off, none of the vouchers were familiar to any of the different companies we were to use them for. Secondly, we bought a package that gave us bus tours around Rome. What they don't tell you is the time you get to the bus vrs. the time you need to be at your second booking in this package( Vatican) don't work out. You literally can't make your next stop in time to even get on the bus we had to take a cab. Once at the Vatican we had to stop and leave for the tour guide didn't get us started for almost an hour past the time indicated on our itinerary. So we then found out that the place they make you check your bag is closed and you need to walk (run) around the entire outside of the Vatican to the "Exit" for the museum to retrieve your bag. We ended up seeing the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica which were amazing! However we had to then get another cab to leave because the drop off and pick up bus package wasn't anywhere in site. We ended up getting to see the outside of the Colloseum for 5 minutes before we had the cab take us back to get our train home that night. Here's the kicker. When I looked at each cost for tickets, bus (which we couldn't use) and Vatican museum tours on the ground we would have saved a bundle of Euros by not using this package. If you asked me, "would I recommend to a friend?" Ha. Not even to an enemy. Details below: Rome Day Trip by High-Speed Train: 8:30 AM Departure with English Commentary Tour of the Vatican Museums

Riding through secondary roads and a pleasant dirt patch, we will discover one of the most fascinating and typical areas of Salento: the surroundings of Otranto. Crossing the Valley of Idro we will bump into his Byzantine crypt of Saint Angel, and we will reach the foundation “Le Costantine” a center dedicated to organic farming and traditional weaving with old looms. We will cycle towards the megalithic garden of Giurdignano, to admire his prehistoric dolmen and menhir, than we will see a small lake in a disused bauxite quarry.  Stop by a bakery with a stone oven for a delicious lunch with typical products, but also by Porto Badisco for a sweet coffe with ice and almond milk and for a fresh swim.

We were recommended this tour by a good friend of ours and we are so grateful. We have recently retired and had this tour planned for this Autumn but then Covid happened. Carlo at Salento Bici Tour was really helpful in providing updates on the situation in Italy and the options if we needed to cancel. At one point we decided not to go but the thought of a long Winter prompted us to go for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour that takes you around the coast of Salento and it’s surrounding countryside side starting and finishing in beautiful Lecce. The GPS route avoids the main roads and down country lanes and alley ways: passing a myriad of olive groves, charming towns and villages and spectacular cliffs and beaches. The architecture is amazing: so many examples Baroque architecture, imposing castles, defence towers and lighthouses. We stayed at a variety of B&B’s and villas and for most evenings the tour includes reservations at local restaurants and what memorable meals we enjoyed. There are also local food and drink tastings: these were a bit hit and miss but we thoroughly enjoyed the lunch of cheese, wine and homemade Limoncello at a cheese farm hosted by the very charming owner. Salento Bici have invested in new bikes and e-bikes and were of very good quality and fun to ride. We are very grateful for the team at Salento Bici for being so friendly and helpful: thank you so much. It is worth adding an extra day or two at the end of the tour to take in the sights of Lecce and Bari ( we flew into Bari. Nb you can also get flights into Brindisi).

Giovanni and his team created a wonderful experience for my clients on retreat in Puglia. Learning to make pasta by hand and then being served the most delicious lunch was a highlight. More so the way Giovanni took care of us was so personal, we got an authentic Italian experience with a local Italian! He made us all feel very at home , this added value he especially for my American clients who were visiting Puglia for the first time. I will be hiring Green Italy Tours for future retreats knowing I can trust the level of care and connection on offer. An insiders experience of Puglia, what more to ask for!

Otranto is the easternmost city of Italy, it is a natural harbor and this has always influenced its history and appearance. From Otranto civilizations have passed, people, stories and goods that have left an indelible mark on its appearance. The cathedral, with its mosaic (1163-1165) represents without a shadow of a doubt a must for every stay in Puglia. The sea of Otranto, then, clear and crystalline even in the port is the setting for a city of unusual and bewitching beauty. On the horizon, on a clear day, the mountains of Albania invite you to travel and discover new places and perhaps even yourself.

Fabio was a wonderful and knowledgable guide who brought the history and splendour of Lecce alive. We had walked around the city the night before but revisiting it with Fabio made us feel that we were seeing it anew. Equipped with his deep archeological knowledge, Fabio answered all our questions and gave us a comprehensive understanding of the rich history of this beautiful city. He was also a great source of information for other places to visit in and around Lecce. Highly recommended!
