The D-day is today seen as  one of the turning points of the World War II, as well as the largest military operation in history of warfare. The largest intervention of the joint Canadian, British and American forces, it was a massive debarquement on the beaches of Normandy, filled with German forces that were waiting for them. What ensued was a bloody and desperate battle where tens of thousands of lives were lost on both sides. This tour is not only a visit of the most important sites where these battles took place, but also the glimpse into a very complicated situation in the World War II and France’s actual role and position in this war.

Inclusions: Driver/guide, Professional art historian guide, Hotel/port pickup and drop-off, Private tour, Round-trip private transfer

Boris was our tour guide for a trip to France in December, 2019. We visited The Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and spent a day seeing WWII sites in Normandy. Boris made all the arrangements ahead of time, and was an incredible guide throughout our stay in France. My mom, aunt, and I recently did a virtual tour of Versailles with Boris; and while not as good as being there in person, it was a great way to see this beautiful palace. Boris' knowledge of history, culture, and architecture are absolutely incredible. We learned so much! Boris made the whole thing easy, fun and informative. It was great catching up with all that is going on in Paris. If you've got "travel fever" like we do, I would highly recommend booking a virtual tour with Boris at Paris in Person to tide you over until we can visit Europe again safely. Thank you, Boris!

My stepmom found Matthew after searching through multiple Normandy private tours. Thank goodness, it was fantastic! We basically had him as our private guide for 9-hours, taking us to Saint Mare Eglise, Utah Beach, Point Du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Normandy American Cemetery and several others. Matthew picked us up at our hotel front door in Caen and he was extremely flexible and adjusted to what we wanted to see or eat. At the end of the day, he went out of the way to show us Willian the Conqueror’s castle in Caen. Overall, a fantastic tour at a great bargain (~$100/person). We highly recommend you try this tour when you come to Normandy. We took Matthew’s business card and will absolutely hire him again.

November 11th is a day of remembrance in the US for all of our veterans but this day holds a very special meaning to everyone affected by WW1. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the War to End All Wars was over. I had very little knowledge of the details other than my grandfather’s recently discovered military records from his service in Europe during WW1. Regis was able to use these few details to discover my grandfather’s exact battlefield locations and the significance of his unit’s contribution to the war effort. I was so enthralled by my 1st tour in November of 2019, that I booked another private tour with Regis in February 2020. Regis was able to expand on my knowledge of the war and of my grandfather’s role in the overall Allied effort. Now after a year has passed, I can reflect on this experience and humbly try to express my thanks to Regis for his extraordinary knowledge and interest in the history of his country and the Allies during WW1 and WW2. I hope to be able to return soon when the situation allows, and to explore more of the lessons of this important time. On this special day, I want to extend a special thanks to Regis for 2 incredible tours and for my deepened understanding of a grandfather’s legacy.

I did this tour more than 3 years ago ( March 2017) and I still love to think back on it. It was definitely a highlight of my trip, because it is also a lot about the real Normandie. The tour guide gives so much background knowledge about the people and places, while you really visite remote areas and enjoy delicious cidres and cheeses you might otherwise never have tasted. I'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

Does the memorial help us to make sure such horrors do not occur again? That is the hope, of course. The memorial tells the story from the end of WW I until 1945 as the main part, but then adds a few rooms and displays also about the cold war until the fall of the Berlin wall and the end of the URSS. Displays are trilingual, well written, informative. Did Russian American and English atrocities (there were some, of course, on all sides) also receive mention ? Not that I recall. But they did simply not compare in scale and horror to those of Germany and Japan. Four hours spent are still not enough to absorb it all, a second visit is recommended. Kids from 8 years onwards should be brought and taught about this period.

***DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE*** TERRIBLE customer service. Have contacted them before the Covid pandemic asking for a refund. Did not receive it. Then Covid hit - asked MANY times via email for a refund. This trip was for 4 adults - for a cost of 476Euros. There have been so many emails - and they keep saying that a refund is in the works. First they said immediately, then they said 6 months. I cannot recommend this tour operator due to this blatant disrespect of their customers. I need these funds back. I was out of work for more than 8 months - and this is really unacceptable.
