Worldly famous Pamukkale, also called ‘cotton castle’, is located at the southern banks of the Hierapolis Ancient City in Turkey. Since thousand of years, the water got colder and solid as it got farer from the calcareous hot water source and formed the travertine terraces in the shape of floors and steps. There is “radon gas” in Pamukkale Travertine and this gas has a relaxing effect for people. Besides being a unique natural phenomenon, Pamukkale Travertine can be used for healing purposes as hot springs.

We did the rafting trip today and had such a good day. From the beginning organising the trip via Trip Advisor was easy, we booked and paid via the app. We then received regular communication from the organiser and pick up was as advised. The rafting was longer than expected and was thoroughly enjoyed by 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Lunch at the end was good and also suited myself being a vegetarian too. Would love to do the trip again if we are ever back in Side and would recommend Alya Travel too, it was easy to book with her and well organised. This trip will be a lovely menory for us.

Pamukkale is also called the “Cotton Castle”, because of the white, cottony appearance of the mineral bath spas that abound the province, which is rich in calcium. Known as a “spa town” since the Roman era, tourists travel to Pamukkale to relax in warm, soothing and therapeutic waters in the myriad spas. Pamukkale has remarkable spots to make your trip memorable such as the ruins of Hierapolis (ancient spa town), Sacred Pool (scattered marble columns add to the charm of this warm, calcium-dense pool), Travertines (calcium deposit terraces), Roman Theater and the archaeological Museum. Known as the Cotton Cliffs, it is a famous and stunning calcium structure that earned a UNESCO World Heritage Site title in the 1970s.

I took this one day trip from Istanbul to Pamukkale, and I have to say it was really good but unfortunately also really rushed. The one thing that really made this worthwhile was the beauty of Pamukkale and the knowledgable and friendly tour guide, and phone access to the tour office. The flight left Istanbul at 8am which meant that I got picked up at my hotel at 5am. By the time I got was picked up from the airport and made it to Pamukkale it was a bit after 11am. However the departure flight from Pamukkale was at 5:40 and had to leave my tour early to make it back to the airport. This gave me only about 4:30 hours in Pamukkale which is just not enough time. I was also very disappointed that of the included things in the tour I was not able to visit the museum and I did not get to have lunch because of how rushed everything was. Having said that the beauty of Pamukkale's white water pools, the cristal clear water of the antique pools and the historic ruins was really worthwhile. This tour would really benefit from having a later departure time from Pamukkale. If you do not mind having to be rushed and possibly missing out on lunch and museum, then it is worth it. Would i do it over again? Yes ????
