If it were posible to give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. I have just completed a 15 day tour covering Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, and Kosovo with the tour company Visit Macedonia. This was an unbelievable experience! I am incredibly satisfied with the quality and professionalism of this company - every day was carefully thought out and well planned. My wishes and preferences were always the priority and Stefan (tour coordinator and guide) was flexible and able to change the itinerary in a moments notice if I expressed interest in something. Stefan paid attention to my interests and was able to make helpful suggestions and help me make the most out of my trip. Stefan and his daughter, Sofija, are both very knowledgeable about the region and were able to give me a fantastic introductory education and answer all of my questions. Traveling is not always easy or comfortable, but Stefan and Sofija made my trip as easy and effortless as possible - I felt like I was so taken care of and in such good hands. I had 15 days full of wonderful experiences and great conversation. If I wanted company, I had company. If I wanted solitude and to explore on my own, I had it. Overall, traveling with Stefan and Sofija was like traveling with friends, not like traveling with strangers. I trusted them fully and we had a lot of fun. I would 100% recommend them to literally anyone who wants to visit this part of the world. No other company will offer you this level of attention and care, I can promise that. I felt totally spoiled and have no regrets about my tour with this company.

Bitola, or also known as Monastir during the Ottoman Empire, was and still is an important town: It was established by Philip II, father of Alexander The Great; It is on the Ancient Roman Road of Via Egnatia; and it was the town where the international community decided to open consulates to the Ottoman Empire. Today, Bitola is a town with a wealth of cultures intertwined in its streets and residents. Likewise, the remnants of a once thriving Jewish community are scattered throughout the town, and blended in the everyday life as a memory. In this tour we visit the oldest Jewish cemetery in the Balkans, we walk through the old Jewish neighbourhood to see where the Jewish once people lived, visit the Old Bazaar to see where the Jewish people once worked, and we see the many monuments that the local people of Bitola enacted in memory of their fellow citizens. In the process we learn also about the rich history of Bitola and its tasty cuisine.

Inclusions: Radio communication that enables you to listen to the guide's stories clearly, and to be able to keep a safe physical distance (in accordance to WHO recommendations).

Exclusions: The Shirok Sokak (Wide Street) of Bitola is a popular place to go for a coffee, we may do it to experience the local culture., A sweet-shop in Bitola is making a Jewish cake, in honour of the loss of its fellow citizens. And it is a good cake too.

The Via Egnatia was a road constructed by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. It crossed Illyricum, Macedonia and Thrace, running through territory that is now part of modern Albania, North Macedonia Greece and European Turkey as a continuation of Via Appia. Starting at Dyrrachium (now Durres) on the Adriatic Sea, the road followed a difficult route along the river Genusus (Shkumbin), over the Candaviae mountains and thence to the highlands around Lake Ohrid. It then turned south, following several high mountain passes to reach the northern coastline of the Aegean Sea at Thessalonica. From there it ran through Thrace to the city of Byzantium (later Constantinople, now Istanbul). It covered a total distance of about 1,120 km (696 miles/746 Roman miles). I can't thank our tour guide Adam enough for giving us a fun filled day from start to finish. If you are lucky enough to get him as your tour guide you will agree with me that he is one interesting man on this planet! He went above and beyond, even making additional pit stops. He showed us so much in one day that would of easily taken us two to three days to do. The tour exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do future day trips in other countries/cities with Albanian Express Travel and Adam!
