Host of PGA Tour Qualifying since 1995, this course has forty acres of water hazards incorporated into its design, affecting play on twelve holes.
We used to play this course when we visited the Tahoe area, now we live in the community surrounding the course. It is an Arnold Palmer designed course and hosts one of the PGA Web.com qualifying tournaments each year. Therefore, they keep it in great shape. It has a lot of water throughout the course, so it is a challenging course and yet fun to play. Prices seem very reasonable for the area. In addition, it is surrounded by mountains and high desert, so very scenic.

There is a small museum that I recommend visiting before continuing down into the fort site. The remaining buildings are in various states of decay, but you can still get a nice idea of what it was like. The walk around the building sites is easy and flat.

Has something for everyone. Playground, sand volleyball court, 4 lit tennis courts, a stream, pavilion, and par course. You lose a lot of open grassy area after work and weekends because of all the organized sports, though. And be careful of all the goose droppings.

Really nice people. I sure wish I had the funds to have them build a light post or water feature for us. They have some beautiful items for sale. Local artists jewelry. Soap in the shape of crystals..cool stuff. Worth the stop. I didn't leave empty handed. Very happy with my purchase.

This was our second visit to the Jackpot Café. We were there for Sunday Breakfast. We both ordered separate items. I ordered their Giant Ham Steak and Eggs, eggs over easy. Service was slow, when my Breakfast was delivered, I found that my eggs were way over cooked, very firm. I bought it to the attention of our Busboy and he immediately removed them and shortly came back with two eggs properly cooked. They did recover rather quickly. Breakfasts were average. My Wife did like their coffee, they kept her cup full. Price was good, as we had a two for one coupon. We will probably be back to give them another chance.

Carson Valley Inn (CVI) is located in one of the nicest small towns in America. CVI offers an incredible range of amenities that bely its small town location. There is an RV park, motel with swimming pool and workout equipment, restaurants, and a casino. All are well maintained and staffed with friendly and helpful people. Katy's, the 24 hour cafe/restaurant provides a varied menu of solid, American dishes at reasonable prices. Many locals have been eating at Katy's for generations. We haven't visited the Steak House for a while so I can not offer an informed rating. The Casino offers a wide range of slots, video poker and table games. CVI has changed management a few years ago and things have changed over the years in regards to the number of freebies offered. However, the quality of the facilities and the friendliness of the staff have remained. If you are traveling through Minden or wish to enjoy Lake Tahoe without staying at the Lake and its touristy environment, CVI is a good alternative.

This is a small and interesting historic museum in Dayton, Nevada. They have exhibits both inside the building, as well as in the outside area by the museum. There are displays on community life, pony express, ranching in the area, and the railroad. We also saw displays on mining in the area, as well as wine making.
The museum itself used to be an old school house.
One can also pick up a walking map to know more about the other historical buildings in the area around the museum. Museum hours are currently on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. One might want to call ahead to confirm when the museum will be open.

We eat at both of these restaurants often. Te Amos Italian is fabulous. The roasted garlic they bring with the bread is to die for. the Chicken picatta is the best ever with big giant capers.. My husband loves the Calamari Steak...Dukes is a beautiful Steakhouse with aged beef, delicious beef wellington, seafood tower is delicious. If you really want a great deal come for happy hour.

Just finished up the Young Chautauqua Program with 3 wonderful performances. 18 students from 5-15 years old did a short skit as historical characters, wrote wonderful essays & learn to love history and their amazing cultural center. The YCP is just one of many lectures, school programs & performance at the Carson Valley & Genoa Museums besides the very well put together exhibits.

Tandem Skydiving over Lake Tahoe. Serving the Tahoe, Reno, and Northern California areas. Most amazing views!
The team at Skydive Lake Tahoe were professional, knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable for our very first jump. Batman and Kat took great care of us and made it a truly fun and memorable experience. If you aren't sure skydiving is for you, take the plunge with this crew, you'll regret it if you don't. Afterward, you'll be thinking about your next jump.
