Buildings are precariously perched on hillsides in Windwardside, the second largest village of Saba. At 1,700 feet above sea level, the views are astonishing as you amble along the lanes, taking in the red-roofed homes, banana trees and oleander bushes. In a 150-year-old cottage is the Saba Museum, once the home of a 19th-century sea captain, which displays period pieces and old documents. Windwardside makes an excellent base for hiking, especially up the 1,064 steps to the top of Mount Scenery.

This top notch dive center, great service, ready to dive on time so you have some afternoon time if you want it, take the time to find the best dives, even if they have to change because of too much current or poor visibility on a site. You can not get a better experience.

Two friends and I returned to Saba for the third time and once again dove with Sea Saba. I can't say enough good things about these guys. The divemasters were all true professionals. They made the diving fun and safe. When I blew an o-ring on my regulator I was immediately handed a rental reg for the next dive and when I came up from the second dive I was handed my repaired regs. There was no upcharge for the use of the rental reg or for the repair. Just a smile and a genuine satisfaction in a job well done. From the first email inquiry to the shop confirming our flights home and arranging a taxi to the airport these guys hit all the marks. Outstanding.

I had heard stories that this was a very difficult hike, and was worried that it would be so hard that it wasn't fun. Not to worry. It takes a bit of exertion and quite a few steps, but the scenery and the anticipation more than make up for it. We took several breaks, walked slowly, and still made it up and down (from the trail shop in Windwardside) in about 3 hours. There were clouds at the peak when we got there, which is often the case, but there are plenty of great views on the way. I am NOT a flora/fauna type of person, but the plant life was incredible. The Jurassic Park comparisons are apt. Don't worry that it's a tad tough, get up and do it. Bring water!

If you are staying in Saba and want to be near the bars and restaurants this is the area in. There are some phenomenal places to eat and drink with excellent views of the island and the ocean.

We enjoyed a brief stop touring the museum. The curator/gentleman whose family heirlooms are displayed has put forth much effort to display an impressive collection of artifacts. He was eager to share his knowledge with us.

This is a charming little museum about the history of Saba and Saba's early inhabitants. It is housed in a cottage that lets you see how the inhabitants of Saba lived. I enjoyed getting a feel for the strength of the early inhabitants of this tiny island. There were lots of photos, interesting furniture, kitchen items, curtains of Saba lace, and personal artifacts. Thanks and kudos to the Sabans who had the foresight to preserve such an interesting part of their heritage.

We got great information and helpful tips from the Trail Shop! Hikes in Saba range from easy to difficult, and anyone interested in checking out the trails should stop by here first. Definitely a "must" for those who are focusing on hiking on this beautiful island.
