Jasmine Hill Gardens & Outdoor Museum

We were taken by a group that used to live in the area. They had changed the entrance since she had visited. We finally got to the right entrance and entered through a Greek temple entrance. There is an informative film that I suggest watching before visiting the garden. The day was perfect for roaming the gardens and enjoying the spring flowers. I was just amazed that ADA has not jumped them for not having ramps or at least hand rails going down the several sets of stairs throughout the garden. The pathways are made up of individual stones that I would think would also cause some difficulty for wheelchair visitors. If walking is not a problem and you enjoy flowers and statues (beware there are no fig leaves if young children are with you) this is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon.

We have used this outfitter numerous times before both with a large group and a couple.

Every single time we have been, the staff have always been more than friendly and courteous. They are very informative and are always willing to answer any questions that you may have.

The bus ride to the river drop off is an adventure in itself. And it's hot! But that's part of the allure of it all to me.

The river is beautiful and is definitely one of our favorite spots to go to in the area. The water is clean and cool. Wildlife abounds the area and there are many fish of different species that populate it.

The actual kayaking part of it is our favorite. We love the exercise and the simplicity of it all. You can take a short trip by paddling quickly or you can take your time and stretch it out and make it an all day affair, which we always try to do.

The rapids are more fun than scary and worst case you flip over and take a swim.

They also sell kayaks here at reasonable prices and have a great selection.

Do yourself a favor and call ahead though as they tend to fill up quickly during the warmer months.

This is a small reproduction of a French Fort that used to be somewhere else but was rebuilt here. The black smith shop is
just somebody's imagination as to what they thought a smithy should look like. The American breastworks fort was also a replica. There were stone columns encircling the area. No sign told you what they were for. Markers to outline a larger fort maybe? At any rate, the park is nice for hanging out with the family on a sunny day.

Coosa Outdoor Center

Came here for a meetup kayaking event. Lonnie the owner was so nice on the phone. Big open areas to camp with tables and grills...no hookups/electrical. The is a very clean and nice bathhouse near the store and rental area. Did not rent gear but there was plenty of it in the storage barns. The shuttle service to the river was easy and young men there to help and tie down boats. The Coosa river is great for beginner boaters with a couple class two rapids that are straightforward and easy recovery. The river take out is right at the outfitters! The weekend we were there was end of season party and the entertainment and hospitality was great!

Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery

Reviewed By TwoEggTV - Florida Panhandle, Florida

The Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery is the place to begin your tour of the Wetumpka Impact Crater, an ancient and massive crater created with a one-mile wide meteorite struck the earth long ago. The gallery has an entire room dedicated to the Impact Crater with original artwork, interpretive panels and displays that explain the meteorite impact and the five mile wide crater that it left behind. It is well done and a great introduction to this significant feature. The gallery itself is quite remarkable and is a great use of a second floor in a city hall building.

Montgomery Zoo

This popular family destination, spread over 40 acres, is home to over 700 animals from five continents, including the famous Bengal tiger. A train ride around the park provides an overview of the site and a chance to determine where you want to go later for a closer look.

Reviewed By Greg2117 - Pensacola, Florida

The Montgomery zoo is pretty decent size for this area. It’s also reasonably priced and has some exciting and well laid out exhibits. The enclosures have great views of the animals and they have all of the big attraction animals you can ask for. They do a great job of educating the public and their zoo day is a huge help attraction with additional things for the kids to do like bounce houses, rock walls, and other assorted characters walking around. I highly recommend it.
