Florilegium

Florilegium began in 1992 in an 8′ x 10′ booth at an antique mall in Madison, Wisconsin. Our specialties were antique textiles, beadwork, embroideries, crazy quilts, ribbon, buttons, lace, and everything floral. But, the textiles were my favorite part. Slowly, new yarns, canvas, ribbons and beads began to creep in. It became a treasure trove of everything I loved. In 2004, after twelve fairy-tale years in Madison, we moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Here we responded to an increased demand for yarn, ribbons, beads and IDEAS. People began coming to Florilegium for inspiration. Every day they asked “how did you do that” or “where do you come up with all these ideas?”. So, after nine years, I decided to answer those questions in a new way. This website is the result. Here we will offer unique ideas and projects I have designed with custom-made materials you won’t find elsewhere. At Florilegium we "Fuel your Creative Fire". Open Thur-Sat, Sun-Wed by chance or appointment.

I learned about Green Dirt Farm while watching a TV show called "Tastemakers". It was so interesting I knew I must visit it in person. I was not disappointed when I traveled to Weston, Missouri, and toured the farm. Not only is the cheese they make delicious, they are a responsible farm, caring wholeheartedly for their animals and the earth that produces the grass they eat. The tour begins and ends at their cheese shop, which is a lovely place to have lunch and a glass of wine. Don't miss an opportunity to visit one of the few sheep dairies in the U.S.

We visited the Tornado Alley Snow Tubing Park the 2nd day they opened for the 2020-2021 season so we could make a video for our channel. Making the reservations was a little harder because it wasn't located under "tickets" on the website but once we found them it was an easy process. We were also worried about taking our 3 year old but he loved it...once we were at the bottom of the hill each time. He saw other children that were unsure at the top which seemed contagious but in our case he was ready to "Do it Again!" The staff was very friendly helping us when we were lost and even when reprimanding our kids for sitting on the belt. While on the $$ side it was a super fun activity to do for all 5 of us.

Weston Bend State Park

Just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Kansas City, Weston Bend State Park offers secluded picnic sites, sweeping views of the Missouri River from an overlook and from trails, and a scenic overlook accessible to persons with disabilities. A three-mile paved loop trail takes hikers and bikers through the woody terrain and the park also features a campground.

Reviewed By H5448MMlarryb - Thomaston, United States

Just minutes from Fort Leavenworth, the park is bordered by a 3-mile packed path that leads from West Bluffs trailhead to the charming town of Weston, MO, along the Missouri River and where Lewis and Clark traveled. Above the path are wonderful trails for more strenuous hiking in forested areas. Lovely.
