This is a museum where you need several hours to really see everything and they close at 4 pm. so plan accordingly. We ran out of time. You can see Edison's workshop, library, stock room along with multiple other things - like the first movie production site, a display of the original phonograph (that still works) and so much more that it is hard to remember it all. We plan to return again when we can go and view his home in nearby Montclair in warm weather - opens in April.

Verona Park

Reviewed By Rollin D - Verona, New Jersey

Verona Park is a classically designed gem of the Essex County Park System, reminiscent of New York's Central Park and Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Unfortunately, in recent years, much of the understory vegetation, especially the native mountain laurels, have died or otherwise disappeared. This is a problem more widespread than just here; the explosive deer population and other factors have contributed.

The lack of appropriate maintenance of the park, however, is another matter altogether. Motor vehicles, apparently operated by employees assigned to work in the park, have torn up the lawns adjacent to the walkways, leaving inches deep tire treads in some places. This is a regrettable condition that should be addressed! Vehicle use in the park should be carefully monitored by appropriate staff members and adjusted accordingly.

The park is still beautiful and worth visiting but what was once a surpassing gem is now flawed, and needlessly so. Hopefully steps will be taken to restore it to a measure of its' former glory.

We completed the Boardwalk room at this facility, which bases its attractions on New Jersey experiences. The room uses classic cerebral puzzles mixed with some light physical challenges (nothing too strenuous). There are a couple of minor bumps, including one of the early puzzles, which seemed disconnected with no way to realize it was even there (you aren't supposed to break things in escape rooms, of course, and this bordered on that). The other was one of the last puzzles that seemed to be calibrated away from success.

Despite these VERY minor bumps, this was a fantastic experience. The room was large and multi-faceted, the puzzles encouraged communication, and we never felt too stumped. Note that clues are delivered at the game master's discretion via television (rather than loud speaker or other in-theme gimmick). The pacing felt good. We're looking forward to returning for the Power Surge / Edison-themed room.

This is one of the largest cathederals on the East coast, from what I have read about it.
There are nice Italian restaurants and bakeries nearby. This was once a major Italian neighborhood at one time.

Presby Iris Gardens

Reviewed By Marc S - Randolph, New Jersey

Presby Memorial Iris Gardens is a remarkable garden, with over 10,000 irises, 1,500 varieties and over 100,000 blooms over the entire season. Like any other garden, it makes sense to inquire about the stage of the bloom. Visiting the garden in late May, we still saw many beautiful irises. However the majority of viewed irises looked well past their prime.

Parking is available on the street, and I am sure it can sometimes be challenging. We easily found a spot. Importantly be sure to check the weather. Overcast skies with little or no wind will help with your photography.

This is a great spot for walking, hiking, and running. There are short easy trails, longer trails, we haven't even explored all of them and we're always discovering something new. Beautiful views and if it's recently rained there are several great spots with waterfalls. Also a dog park and a spot that is gated off for biking. Our whole family loves going.
