River and canal walks are often an easy stroll being flat. This area of the Lea can get quite busy close to the town though so watch out for bikes!

A great cast and a nice take on this traditional Brothers Grimm tale, appearing at the theatre until early January 2018. Having seen a good few pantos, this one knocks the socks off of most. All involved, from the creative side to the technical, managed to absolutely smash it - all the people in my party (all 249 of them) were absolutely buzzing afterwards. We loved the clever levels of humour and the musical arrangement - especially Hazel's version of 'Bills'. The audience participation is well managed by the cast who performed the show beautifully.
The show is a 'must-see' for families this Christmas. I'll be attending again younger family members.
I've had a number of trips to see shows here, both amateur and professional and seen close-up magic show in a side studio. All my experiences here have been wonderful at all points of contact.
The theatre is well managed and the front of house team are welcoming and professional, with all the facilities that you'd expect in the condition that you'd want....accessible for all.

I took my grandson here today. It is not a very big place but enough to interest a 3 year old. Along with the farmyard area at the adjoining garden centre we were able to spend a couple of hours here. He could feed several of the animals such as the goats, rabbits, geese etc which he loved. We would come back.

Moore's former family home & sculpture studios are also open to visitors. Opening is seasonal. Henry Moore Studios & Gardens will be open again from July 2016.

Lovely countryside setting in East Herts .with Moore's varied design sculptures set out in garden setting or open fields. Relaxing to stroll around and enjoy the ambience and stunning sculptures. Henry Moore's house is also well worth a visit (guided tour in small groups when we last visited). The building and contents have been kept as when Moore lived there.
The new cafe/visitor centre(with shop) (opened in 2016) is a vast improvement on the previous building and offers outside Seating for coffee and cake.

The place is lovey to visit, although I did feel a bit cheated last time we went, as some of the attractions were closed due to building work (looked a bit like a builders yard). I wouldn’t have minded so much had I been told at the entry gate before purchasing my family’s tickets.

Don’t be put off by people saying this place looks tired - it’s amazing ! We easily spent 4 hours there and the kids didn’t want to leave. There is soft play, a maze thing that leads to an adventure playground, trampolines, racing cars, bouncy Castles and these cool bumper spaceship things that when you shoot each other makes you spin around (yes I did have a go too lol) You’ll need to bring cash for some of the rides as they take pound coins but there is plenty of free things to do. We ate there as well and I have to say there was a lot of choice and at really reasonable prices too ! They do a jug of squash for £2 ! £2 !!! Where in the world do you know that offers you that ? The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. My son unfortunately had a nosebleed whilst we were there and the staff were all very kind and helped us out straight away. Really, secretly I don’t want word of this place getting out too much !!!! We will definitely be returning very soon.
Also worth adding that from the car park you can watch the go karts going round and they have crazy golf and laser tag, which we will explore on our next visit.

It’s free. It has animals. It has hand washing facilities. You can feed the birds. The turkeys are fabulous, sometimes a little stalky the way the follow you round, but thats ok. Pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, mice, reptile things, rabbits, plenty to see. A small area and if your lucky you could spend 30 minutes is soninnhere. Leave a donation though, don’t be a cheap skate! That’s how it stays open and free. The setting is nice. Nearby is an outdoor adventure playground, plenty of space to run cycle and play. Great for kids. Cafe has been re done and is no frills and basic but good all the same.

An absolutely outstanding experience - “one of the best days ever” to quote my seven-year old son. Emily, Elliot and Luke took us on a wonderful woodland walk with a beautiful barn owl named Dusk. It was brilliant to have Dusk flying around us and perching on our gloves for food and a lift as we went about the walk. All of the staff were extremely knowledgeable about all the birds, patiently fielding all sorts of inquisitive questions and enthusiastically passing on a never ending supply of interesting facts. I think what impressed us most though was the genuine bond between the birds and the staff and it was a joy to watch the interactions between them. We’ll definitely be back for more and looking forward to the next experience.

What an excellent day out. So much to do here. So Many hands on workshops available, most are included in the entry fee. If they are not included there is a small/reasonable extra fee to take part.
Fantastic the kids won't get bored and nor will you. You get to experience a day out that does not require the use of electricity ( except to make sure your camera is fully charged).
Experience the art of celtic bread making, candle making, story telling. Kids can learn Celtic battle skills, archery, have a go in a drumming workshop, take part in the Celtic Games.
You can picnic on site or take advantage of their catering facilities which is very reasonable priced. There is also a small gift shop on site too.
There is a falconry display, children's play equipment to swing and climb on. Fabulous Round Houses on site. and much much more. Look for offers and book on line, I think you can sign-up for their news letter, so you don't miss out on a thing.
10. Rye Meads Nature Reserve

This wetland nature reserve has something to offer everyone and will appeal to families, walkers, birdwatchers and photographers alike. With 8 hides and 3 large lagoons the reserve plays host to a variety of species such as Tufted duck, Common tern, Green sandpiper, Cetti's warbler, Kingfisher, Water vole, Fox, and most recently Black-Necked Grebe. A great place for children and families with spotter trails, and regular events, but also very popular with birders and people after a relaxing walk or some peace and quiet. The friendly visitor centre offers two classrooms, a bird feeding station, hot and cold drinks and refreshments, and toilet facilities, plus free parking for RSPB members. Opening times are every day from 9 am to 5 pm (or dusk if earlier). Please note that the reserve is closed on Christmas and Boxing Day.

Our second visit here and we arrived in hope of glimpsing a kingfisher as we had before. Well we were not disappointed. We sat and watched both breeding parents feed, dive, catch fish and coordinate their feeding visits back to the nest.
The volunteers on the door were very helpful and welcoming. Brilliant...I recommend everybody become an RSPB member.
