Angry Orchard

Reviewed By twilliams15 - New York City, New York

Angry orchard has a nice ambiance for families, friends and couples. The grounds are fairly large but they do not maximize their space. The layout in the main cider house is poorly used especially when crowded. Went on a weekend and it was crowded most of the time was spent on lines. There on two food trucks during the weekends which serve burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas and chicken tenders, fries. Spent 30 mins on line for the food truck. There is another line for cider donuts freshly made in front of you. The pros is that you get a free flight of ciders. The cons you can only get one cup of cider at the bar in a small cup. Cider prices varies from $5-$9. The growlers which are a hit but cant be consumed on the premises are $19. The garden which is by the tree house is 21 & older no small children allowed. There is only one large fire pit and about 10-12 picnic tables outdoors. Would visit again in the spring or summer time. It was definitely a chilly day when I went.

We went here with friends from France who ride and have motorcycles. My husband and I only have a passing interest in such. However, we were really impressed with the extensive display of so many fantastic motorcycles. Our more experienced friends were totally wowed. There is interesting history here as well. Staff is really nice and helpful. Highly recommend!

My girlfriend and I drove up to New Paltz for the weekend and spent Saturday hiking. Sunday, we explored the town for a while and decided to head up to this gallery as it was so highly rated on TripAdvisor. I can assure you that it is all that its hyped up to be and more. The moment we stepped into the facility, we were floored by all the prints and how knowledgeable and hospitable Ken was (DM Weil's partner). We ended up spending just under an hour looking through the beautiful gallery and we would've stayed longer if we hadn't had time constraints. Afterwards, we got an amazing deal on some prints and we were very happy with our experience. I would recommend to anyone with an interest in art! (It was also remarkably cool and well-kept and we were offered beverages and snacks which was a very nice change from the 90 degree and humid weather!)

Lion - our guide was absolutely fantastic! He was knowledgeable, entertaining and engaging. Well worth paying to get a tour and tasting, seeing and better understanding the end to end process, and learning the fascinating story behind Tuthilltown Spirits.

Tours start every hour so I assumed it would all be done in under an hour so booked in for lunch right next door. Next time I'd allow another 15 minutes to properly enjoy the tasting and purchase selection.

A great outdoor area, plenty of parking, and of course the restaurant right next door.

Smooth wines, even the dry reds were smooth- dessert wines, ciders, everything is great tasting. $7 person for tastings.
Tours available also, as is dining across the Tasting Room in a Cafe- not cheap though.
Unfortunate to learn sugar is added to some of their wines, not a big fan of adding sugar to anything, but overall a nice day trip.

My Saddle Brook Farm

Reviewed By CHE51 - Connecticut

We had about a 1 hour ride to get there. The weather was with us. Got there early and got to walk around the barn and riding ring. We watched a lesson. It was time to saddle up. We all had been on a horse at least once before. We started walking the horses in the ring. Was a little concerned that we would not go out on the trail. However the time going around the ring was to see how we were with the horses and how they responded to us. After a few rounds we headed out to the trail. The lead horse kept wanting to go as fast as possible to get back to the barn so he remained on a lead. My horse was just the opposite and kept saying, what's the hurry? It was fun to walk through the trail and see how we could work with the horses. These are rescued horses so it felt good supporting such a worthwhile program. Everyone was friendly to work with. We all had a very good time. Would recommend to my friends and come back myself.

I usually go during the winter or colder weather. I have better luck than. My trip this morning yielded only a few bird sightings and several deer sightings. At 7 AM the sunrise was beautiful and the air crisp. I could hear birds in the distance and saw a few Canadian Geese flying overhead.

I do recommend this location but check recent sightings. I also liked the new ramp and observation deck.

Orange County Arboretum

Reviewed By Bob F - Goshen, New York

I complain about the taxes in Orange County as much as anyone but when I come here I feel like I might just be getting something for our money.

The gardens in the summer are beautiful and the Christmas Light display in December is inspiring. There is a pond, a tea house an alpine garden honey bees and the globe at the 911 memorial is spectacular in the summer.

You should visit anytime of the year.
