My mother (age 72) and I went on a 2 hour tour down the River Mira from Vila Nova de Milfontes, with SW SUP and had a wonderful afternoon. The instructor was really friendly and helpful, and pointed out lots of interesting things along the way. The scenery is beautiful and the river one of the cleanest in Europe. It was incredibly peaceful and a lovely way to spend an afternoon. SUP is easy to learn and it doesn't take long to feel comfortable and confident.
We also hired SUP boards at the beach in Vila Nova de Milfontes on a couple of occasions, which was good value and a fun way to spend an hour on the beach. My 4 year old loved sitting on the front of the board as we paddled to the sand bar and a little way along the beach. He was provided with a life vest, but he didn't go in the water until he jumped in.
I definitely recommend SW SUP, they were friendly, professional and enthusiastic.

Worth visiting not only the beach area but also the town Vila Nova de Mifontes when travelling in the west coast of Portugal.
Here you find many good restaurants and coffee houses, too.

Unfortunately the castle is privately owned, so there is no public access, but there is a nice square outside, restaurants nearby, and it is a good focal point for photographs, as it is adjacent to the sea / river estuary. Benches in the square provide a nice place to relax for a while.

Maria offers a ferry transfer to the other side of the river, where you will find a quiet beach and a restaurant.
She also offers a trip on the river, during which you will see something of the landscape and small villages of the back country. In the middle of the trip she will stop the boat and offer some coffee or wine and a chat. She speaks fluently Portuguese, English and French.
The views on the village of Vila Nova de Milfontes are amazing, especially at sunset.
Maria is a very nice and hearty person and it is always fun doing a boat trip with her! Her dog will be on the boat, too and entertain the passengers as well.
