Udmurt Zoo

Reviewed By ArgDes - Belgium

The Zoo is one of not so many attractions in Izhevsk. We were there last summer and we spent a morning in the Zoo. It is easily accessible by tram (some 10-15 min. from the city center) has many animals to see, it is well organised and clean. There is a coffee shop and a small restaurant, not bad ata all. We spent half a day there walking around, took the small train (although too expensive for the small tour it did) and tried the food at the restaurant - average quality. There is also a small shop to buy your souvenirs.

Ludorvai Architectural and Ethnographic Memorial Museum Reserve

Well kept outdoor museum of traditional Udmurtian village life. You have a number of typical Udmurtian farms here with preserved interiors. I recommend to book a guide as much of the history and traditions of this people are unknown to Russians and other outsiders. The site is also popular with the locals for outings and wedding pictures. There is a great souvenir shop with reasonably priced Udmurtian handicraft.

State Museum Tchaikovskiy Residence

Visiting the Udmurt Republic and not stopping in Votkinsk to see Tchaikovsky's House its like going to New York and skipping Times Square. This is a childhood house of Tchaikovsky.
The whole estate is lovely with a house and a little garden just on the lake. You can even imagine it is a :swan lake". The place host tours and special events such as weddings in a traditional Russian style. If you are there one summer weekend, you can find yourself participating in a folk dancing or seeing a wedding couple pulling up in the carriage to the gate.
You can see Tchaikovsky's first piano and plenty of memorabilia and the real things used and touched by the Master himself. Its amazing feeling.
I have visited this place few times and probably would again.

Мне очень понравилась скульптура, забавный персонаж.
Памятник находится расположен очень удобно, на центральной площадки города.
Так и не смог понять, почему же многие горожане негативно относятся к памятнику.
Рекомендую обязательно посмотреть

The museum is mainly targetting school children, but is also nice for tourists who are travelling through the region. It has a nicely presented collection with in one wing the focus on the nature (animals and plants) in the region and in the other wing an introduction to the history of the Udmurt people. Highly recommended place and very friendly staff!

It's just a monument for faithful couples with a legend coming to ancient times. Except tour guides no one if a fan of this monument in Izhevsk.
