This is a lovely reserve with lots of walking trails. Lots of bird-life and heaps of great locations for family photos. There are no toilets or facilities (cafes etc) so bring food for a relaxing picnic.

We took 5 kids to the park to play today. I had to pick up lots of other peoples rubbish-mostly drink bottles and containers-and bin them to keep them out of the way of our 1 yo grandson who wanted to put any he found in his mouth. I counted 6 bins. People are so lazy. It's a fantastic park with lots of different activities for kids of all ages, BBQs, toilets drinking Fountains a coffee van but today the rubbish was disgusting.

Saint Michaels Church is located on the corner of Kay street and (ironically) Church street.
It’s grand sandstone structure with polished pews and impressive mosaics make a statement.
What also strikes the visitor upon entry, is the dominating stained glass church windows with a variety of striking colours.
We were told an interesting narrative, that the windows actually tell a story from the first panels being the birth of Jesus all the way through to his resurrection.
Whether religious or not, it’s worth a stop and a look inside.

Held on the 4th Saturday of every month, the Traralgon Farmer's Market is a local institution and has been for the past 10 years. The vendors sell interesting, quality local fruit and vegetables, meats and fish and value-added products, so there's always something to spend your money on. The market is a great spot for brunch to munch on as you shop, and you'll always run into friends and family or someone you know

The Gippsland Plains Rail Trail is a 67km recreational trail following the former historic Gippsland Plains railway line route between Stratford and Traralgon. The trail passes through undulating dairy country, takes in unique regional flora and fauna, and there are a number of quintessentially Gippsland villages along the way.

I've walked bits and pieces of this trail recently, enjoying the scenery and the exercise. It's a flat trail for the most part, with the Traralgon-Glengarry end having some interesting trestle Bridges (one has wasps at the moment, it's well signed but be careful) and the Maffra end has the remnants of beautiful Bridges. There's a fascinating part between Tinamba and Heyfield where you can see the old rails cross the asphalt road still. The trail takes you through some of my favourite villages in this area - Cowwaar will be loved by art fans and the Cricket Club hotel there serves lovely food, Tinamba has its now famous hotel with INCREDIBLE meals, Glengarry's bakery is renowned for its flavoured hot cross buns and Maffra is an absolute delight of a town with so many heritage buildings. It's a great trail for people with prams, on bicycles or in wheelchairs, but it's very long so take it in bits unless you're really keen.

The Miners, or (Jack Vines) lookout, is located about a third of the way from Traralgon heading towards Traralgon South and on the way towardsTarra Bulga National Park.
It’s named in honour of Jack Vines, who was a local engineer and significantly contributed to the coal mining industry and a plaque is installed at the lookout as a tribute to him.
There is a small pergola with information plaques on some of the history of the industry which was interesting.
There are spanning views over the mine and the surrounding countryside, however our early arrival did dampen the landscape due to mist and fog.

I will quite honestly say I wasn't even aware of this park's existence until I found it on TripAdvisor. Then... I was curious why I wasn't aware of it... so today I slipped into the carpark to understand why I had no idea it was there. Firstly... it's not well signposted. Secondly it's hidden behind the local swimming pool and bowling green.
Once you drive into the carpark, you will see this delightful children's play area with sweeping lawns nearby. And there is a really great amount of carparking there. I understand that this playground is considered a safe play system catering for all age groups. It would certainly be a great place to take children... my cat wasn't as excited by their slide as it should have been. :)

Driving along the Princes Highway I have driven past this monument numerous times and always wondered what it was all about... so I stopped. Interesting local history point... it was erected by the local Polish community in honor of a Polish explorer who is responsible for naming Gippsland and Mt Kosciuszko.
It's easy to stop as there is parking available just off the side of the road. The information boards will tell you a little bit about the explorer and a little about the history of the monument. :)
It's a good break from a drive, with the added bonus that you learn about some local history.

Stockland Traralgon has serviced the local community since 1985 and is conveniently located in the Traralgon CBD area on the corner of Franklin Street & Post Office Place. The centre is anchored by Coles and Kmart, three mini majors and has over 50 specialty stores.

My main reason for ever entering Stocklands is to go to Coles. The store is prominently featured in this shopping centre. Occasionally I will wander into Kmart ... about once/twice a year. The best place in the centre to eat is Evviva ... but there is a food court for anyone wanting something quick.
There is heaps of carpark area under the building and a carwash service is also under the building.
It has all of the amenities of a shopping centre but it's not stand out. It is a good place to meet up with people because it has really good car park facilities and it's centrally located.
