The G. N. Prozritelev and G. K. Prave Stavropol State Museum-Reserve was established in February 24, 1905 as the North Caucasus Museum of local history. Archaeological and ethnographic collections of public activist, regional ethnographer and archeologist G. N. Prozritelev (1849-1933) were at the basis of the museum. At the same time the City Museum of educational visual aids was founded in Stavropol. Initiative of its foundation came from the notary, public figure and collector G. K. Prave (1862-1925). In 1927, the North Caucasus Museum and the City Museum of educational visual aids have been merged into one institution, is located in the trade building, where the museum is today. Now it is called «The G. N. Prozritelev and G. K. Prave Stavropol state historical-culture and natural-landscape museum-reserve». On displays and in the stores of one of the biggest in the North Caucasus museum there are more than 400,000 items which illustrate the history, nature and culture of this multinational territory from prehistoric to modern times. On show in the museum are numerous historical relics, unique photographs and documents, articles of daily life and work of the Northern Caucasus nations, rare collections of arms, coins and medals of many periods and peoples, fine pictures, old manuscripts and books. Many exhibits are of international importance, among them two skeleton of a fossil southern elephant that lived more than one million years ago, a stone mausoleum of an Alan chiefman dating back to the 10-11 th centuries, the first in the world fossil reconstruction of a prehistoric rhinoceros, unique collection of imprints of insects living in the Tertiary Period and many others.

Good information, labelling in Russia only but attendants only too happy t give information. Super collection of butterflies and of geological examples. Good loos in basements. Closed on Tuesdays.

The charm and the best advantage of this park is its location. It is situated in the forest. Every time I get there I find something new. There are merry-go-rounds, a zoo, a skating rink, Dinopark, Aqua Park and a lot of cafes. In spite of all those attractions you can always find a path for jogging, walking or running in silence. Many people like walking through it early in the morning on their way to work and I'm not an exception. At night it's full of light and music and it becomes a popular place to meet with friends.

Не самый удачный парк. Спланирован плохо. Развлечения убогие. Но... при входе лоток с семечками (в парк, как же без них), и плюс шикарное колесо обозрения.

Как обычно красиво. Хорошее место для отдыха. Вход для взрослых 100 рублей, для детей до 14 лет 50 рублей. Недорого. Людей много. Но лучшее время для посещения это весна и середина октября. В октябре много красивой желтеющей листвы. Были в середине ноября, и кроме астр на улице больше ничего не было. Удачного отдыха.

Старинное здание в виде мечети магометанского стиля , как культовое никогда не использовалось . Прекрасная картинная галерея , тихая музыка , посещение музея - невероятное наслаждение . Собрание картин потрясающе , хочется провести там максимум времени

You can pretty much see this church from any elevated position in town. The gold domes are beautiful in any weather but the best is the inside with all its gilt icons and polished marble. Definitely a Stavropol must-see.

В первый раз побывал в театре на новогоднем утреннике. Часто бывал в студенческие времена. Сейчас когда удается там побывать для меня и моей семьи это настоящий праздник. Вполне уютные кресла. Всегда интересные декорации. Игра труппы всегда впечатляла. Лет 10 для любопытства сходил посмотреть спектакль "Три товарища" и скажу честно игра ставропольских актеров была более живой и сильнее брала за сердце.

В Ставрополе совсем не много мест, куда можно сходить. Музей изобразительных искусств одно из них. Музей маленький, занимает здание старинного особняка. Стоимость входа 140 рублей (полный билет, на все выставки). Очень приветливый и обходительный персонал. Под скрип старого паркета очень приятно осматривать картины и предметы искусства. Посетителей практически не было, была суббота. К сожалению народ музей не жалует. Будете в Ставрополе, зайдите, я получил удовольствие от посещения.
