I go to this park mainly for canoeing and kayaking. There are nice ramps and good, clean bathroom facilities there. There is parking for boat trailers and cars. It's the scenic, real Florida. The fishing pier was damaged in Hurricane Hermine but it is being repaired and should be open this year.

Well we turned up at 7:30 as the boat was being made ready. There was 14 fishermen on this trip this was our first time out with the Thunder. We steamed out for 2 1/2hrs to reach the fishing grounds, as soon as we dropped our lines we were straight into Grunts, which we were told were great eating so in the bucket they went. Fishing tackle supplied was good and in good condition, plenty of bait provided. Fish caught during the trip Grouper,Grunts,Red Snapper,Bonitos,Remora,Flounder,Porgy,Hogfish,Toadfish and Spanish Mackerel. Weather was very hot but what a trip we all had bags of fillets for our dinners. Great trip with a great Captain and Mate will be going again for sure Thanks.

Great place to bring the kids for a day at the beach. It’s a freshwater lake about 3 miles around, so there’s plenty of room. Lots of activities for the kids, clean restrooms and a food truck. Volleyball courts and plenty of parking, $5 per car. Future activities are planned.

The Kayak Shack

Reviewed By 567jessiea

My friend recommended The Kayak Shack because how great the people that run the store so we got are rental through them. After the kayak at weeki wachee river we got back to are hotel at clearwater beach. We meet some locals that lives in Tampa area and we got to talk about experience in the weeki wachee river. I told the locals that we didn't see clear blue water its all murky water and we've been kayaking for a few hours. He said the weeki wachee is the most beautiful place to see. He mention if we started at roger park, I said yes that were we start on are kayaks. He said that its the end part of the river that's why the water is so murky. He said the kayak shack should have brought us up to the top of the weeki wachee River and kayak down. The top of the River is were the clear blue water is. The kayak shack didn't told us anything it. They told us to start paddling up the river all the way at the top of the river were you can see the clear blue water and manatee. To make is worst, you are paddling against the river current because you're going up the river not down the river. The locals said you got rip off because The kayak shack should told us about not taking you at the top of the river before you start your rentals but they failed to tell us. So I look on there website to see if its listed on there page anything about them starting at the bottom or taking you at the head (top) of the river. I did some searching on their page of course its not on there front page of there website because they don't want people to see it. I found it on the "ABOUT US" tab you will see a small box in the middle of the page that says they won't take you to the top of the river anymore due to new rules and regulations. You will miss the notice if you scroll fast on your computer and don't read it. I'm posting this review so people can be aware before they rent their kayaks through "THE KAYAK SHACK" unless you want to paddle up against the river current going up, more power because it's not worth it. Paddling against the current is exhausting, takes hours to get to the top, by the time you get to the top you will be exhausted. If anyone wants to go see the weeki wachee river go with a kayak rental company that will take you to the head (top) of the river and kayak down. I don't want anybody to get similar experience and disappointment.

Wildlife Survival Sanctuary

Our mission here at Wildlife Survival is to rescue animals without prejudice. We do not intentionally breed, and we DO Not sell our animals! We do not take our animals out in public or allow direct contact with the public. We were founded to provide the animals we rescue with over-sized natural habitats where they can live out their lives peacefully while being provided with the best possible care they deserve. Our animals call the sanctuary their permanent home where they can be safe from harm.

We went to Marker 48 to listen to a band called Cottondale Swam play. Being our first visit we weren't sure what the place was about. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The brewery has two areas, one inside and the other outside. The inside has tables to hang out and relax, and/or watch sports. Almost forgot they also have an inside bar area to get adult beverages:). The outside has a stage and a AirStream type camper as the outside adult beverage purchasing area:). There is also corn hole games and ping pong for kids ofall ages. The outside area is covered with astro turf supposedly from LSU stadium, we won't hold that against them:). The large array of craft beverages and awesome atmosphere will bring us back again for sure. So pack up your kids and dogs and go on out and enjoy.

Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary

Visit by confirmed appointment only, Donations Welcome and Appreciated for tours

Reviewed By John T

Just a few miles out of Wesley Chapel, Florida, this non-profit true bird sanctuary for parrots, macaws, and cockatoos offers one a chance to visit literally a hundred or so birds that have been abandoned by their previous owners and cared for here for life. As these birds live up to 100 years many of them will be here long before we are gone.

Be sure to call for an appointment for a visit to this sanctuary and then plan on making a donation to this worthy work. There is nothing like walking into the main aviary and have a macaw or two land on your shoulder and eat almonds right out of your hand. Many of these birds have been taught various human songs and phrases--hilarious to hear them go into their routines.

This sanctuary is dedicated to the care and well-being of these birds. They do not sell, trade, or offer for adoption any of the birds in the sanctuary. This is their home for life, allowing them to mingle with similar birds on outdoor open-flight conditions.

Anyone living in the area can ask to be a volunteer to help feed these birds and maintain their quarters.
