Agas-Agas Bridge

Reviewed By Sverrir J - Torrevieja, Spain

I have seen few videos from this place and I was expecting to see what I had seen on these videos but that turned out wrong. The Cable car was parked at the top and had obviously been used for a long time, the Zip lines were gone and the whole place looked run down. I asked the lady in the refreshment shop and she told me that it had all been closed for over a year and the authorities would not grant them a new license to operate. Hence it is just another bridge crossing a deep ravine but you can see them anywhere.

Limasawa Island

Reviewed By rpantoni - Melbourne, Australia

Limasawa is a very beautiful Island with beautiful and helpful people.. It is one of those places that I would highly recommend visiting.
There are markers for the the first mass in the Philippines. Although, there are a lot of arguments if it really happens here..
The beach is nice, and there is a marine sanctuary..
Most of all, this is not a crowded place, and you can actually meditate here:)

Our Lady of the Assumption

Reviewed By LomMatt - United Kingdom

Lady of Assumption atop Jalleca Hills can pretty much be seen from anywhere in the town of Maasin. It's only 5 - 10 minutes walk from the port. After climbing many steps, you will be at the top of the hill with a giant statue of Mary. Religious subject aside here, it's more than worth the visit for the spectacular views it affords of the town of Maasin.

Maasin Cathedral

Reviewed By islandsoft_2010 - Matawan, New Jersey

This small and lovely Cathedral is made of coral blocks carved from the ocean lying before it.
Maasin is the capital of Southern Leyte and there are a reasonable amount of resources there, including food and housing, to facilitate your trip to Maasin.
Facilities are very near but obviously the church does not serve lunch!
The Cathedral can be seen in more detail in http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/651921
Just flip through the book, no need to buy.

Monte Cueva Shrine

Reviewed By Sverrir J - Torrevieja, Spain

MAASIN CITY— boasts of the most amazing shrine, the Monte Cueva Asuncion dela Virgen Shrine, or simply Monte Cueva, The shrine is called Monte Cueva (172 meters above sea level) because its chapel is inside the cave. Canonically established by the bishop of Maasin, it is officially called the Shrine of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus and the Our Lady of the Assumption, the city’s patroness. There are two long stairways on both sides. The right one with about 550 steps is the upward entrance “path,” while the other, with over 300 steps, leads downward to the exit. It was said that the previous owner of the land had a dream about the Lady of Assumption, who asked him to build a shrine. True enough, he built it and subsequently donated the property to the diocese.

Puting Buhangin Island

Reviewed By Gracia M - Cyberjaya, Malaysia

This is the first stop of our 3-beach weekend getaway. As I remember, this beach has the cleanest water of the three Beaches. You can explore the island, pass through Kwebang Lampas or just swim. Entrance fee is P80, which you need to pay asap (we're not even out of the boat).
The best time to be here is during off peak season when you can enjoy view quietly :p
The standard boat rate is P1800 (good for 6) for a 2-day Puting Buhangin - Dampalitan - Borawan Trip from Padre Burgos. There's another entry point (Pagbilao?) where the boat ride is shorter.
After roaming around we headed to Dampalitan to set up camp and eat lunch.
