Pyramids Road Wines

Our vineyard was planted in 1999 and since then we have progressively increased our production to meet demand. We are two ex school teachers who made a tree change to the Granite Belt to grow grapes, make wine and open a cellar door. It’s a hands-on operation as all processes are completed by the two of us on site. We skillfully create regional wines that exhibit strong varietal fruit characters.

This winery is celebrating 20 years in 2019 and it is always worth a visit. You might be welcomed by their winery dog Ralph or by the smiling faces of Sue and Warren - but you will always get a warm welcome. We recently returned with a 2006 bottle of their Bernie’s Blend (named after Warren’s dad) and man it had aged well!! So buy some to drink now and some to put away - you won’t regret it!! Beautiful location near the Girraween National Park - so lovely scenery on the way (but watch out for the local kangaroos).

The Granite Belt

Reviewed By zzrbell - Brisbane, Australia

We stayed in Stanthorpe with family to explore the Granite Belt area. I gather so named because of all the boulders and rocks in the area. It has come a long way! Great food and world class wines as well as amazing local produce. Plenty to see and do from parks to antique shops and history. Start with the visitor information centre in Stanthorpe. Lots of accommodation options as well. We chose a farm cottage near town. A great place to spend a few days.

Stanthorpe Museum

Reviewed By 722murrayh - Brisbane, Australia

This museum is a real credit to the local volunteers who have a put together a very informative and comprehensive display of a wide range of items spread across a number of old homes and buildings. Our kids enjoyed it (even the teenagers!) while their grandparents loved seeing things they had grown up with. Definitely worth stopping by while in Stanthorpe- this museum should be supported.

Had a lovely visit to Glengallan Homestead. The house is partly restored and it was interesting to be able to see it's construction and read the history of the house. Definately worth a visit. We had lunch in the adjoining cafe which was nice. The caretakers of Glengallan are to be commended for keeping this history alive for all to see.

Donnelly's Castle

Reviewed By Ginges_revenge - Brisbane, Australia

This was one of my favourite spots for the weekend. Even though I am in my mid 40's, it made me feel like a kid again, exploring through the amazing rock formation that is Donnelly's castle. Its a bit of trek out of the center of Stanthorpe (20 mins approx. but is well worth the drive. There is a lookout on top which is an easy walk up a gentle slope with a few stairs onto a large granite outcrop which is fenced for safety. Even though all the other boulders you can fall off of. Bit of a laugh that. Anyway, its history is of supporting a place of bushrangers to hide out in, most notably Captain Thunderbolt (AKA Frederick Wordsworth Ward) in the mid 1800's. There is a great picnic area there, small car park, some wood fire BBQ's, a council toilet as well. It would make a great area for a visit, lunch and some exploring.

What a lovely way to spend a morning in the week before Christmas. We met some beautiful animals and fed them. Some people were picking out a Christmas tree. There was delicious Belgian hot chocolate and the most glorious Christmas shop - full of decorations, ornaments and pressies. Great concept guys - I'll be back with kids next Christmas.
