The Telemark Canal

Reviewed By ragnarotterstad - lunde i telemark

Travel like they did before and enjou some wonderful scenery. During the trip you go through a number of locks, taking you from sea level to 73 m .a.s.l. The boats are old but go through rigid safety checks in accordance with rules for passengerships. There is catering service on board, with both cold and warm meals available. Sitting on the front deck gives you a nice Panorama view of the changing landscape. At the end you arrive at Dalen, where I wold recommend you stay overnight at Dalen Hotel, which is an experience in itself.

Cyckling Along The Telemark Canal

Telemarkreiser offers bicycling trip packages along the 110km Telemark Canal from Skien to Dalen, including overnight accommodation, boat trip, bicycle transport, and information booklet with maps and route description. Length of trip varies from 20km to 192km. The canal trip offers the unique opportunity to combine cycling with boating on a canal through a constantly changing landscape. The route follows paths with light traffic and on simple paths free of motorized vehicles.

Reviewed By Normallyhappy2010 - Skien, Norway

One of the finest, and most varied cycle routes in Norway. You can choose to stick to the sign-posted route, og go by your own, and it will be hard not to find idyllic roads, mostly with little motorized traffic, with spectacular views, and a variation of historic houses, local museums, art galleries, and local food and drink. It can be a good idea to take one of the canal boats from Skien to Lunde, where bikes (and kayaks and canoes) can be rented, and cycle along the canal (along a partly hilly road) from there.

DuVerden Maritime Museum + Science Centre

The childrens favorite place to visit, lots of activities. DuVerden Maritime Museum + Science Centre is a vibrant venue with activities for young and old. The centre has created a link between the area's rich maritime history and future-oriented education as well as industrial development. The spectacular building houses Exhibitions and installations. The objective is to stimulate interest in maritime history, science and technology through interactive communication methods - especially for children and young people. Consequently, learning through playing and experimenting is essential when visiting DuVerden. The centre has its own Amphitheatre, which seats fifty people, and is used for 3D films. Brekkeparken

Reviewed By Kent S - Peyia, Cyprus

This park, where you can also find Telemark Museum, is really beautiful, and you are walking among old architecture hundreds of years old which is a part of Telemark Museum.
The park is used all the time for wedding photographs - and that's for a reason.
There is a restaurant in the park, which was ready for a total make-over 40 years ago. It's really a shame it isn't fixed.
With the restaurant recommendable, I would have given 5 stars, but I have to say this is a really ugly spot on the record.

Lots of play areas where kids, moms and dads could have a quality bonding time. However, there is a very steep slide that I do not recommend. It's kind of scary and could cause an accident... of course we had an accident and it involved an adult female who was just visiting in Norway with her kid last August 2015. She fractured her knee. Anyway, it's just a matter of avoiding not-so-safe play areas and everything will be just fine. I brought another visitor here last month, November. The kids had fun, the mother too! Overall, Eventyr fabrikken is a fun place for kids to visit in Skien, Telemark.

I was here for a seminar, which was really well done.
And it`s a nice place since it`s so close to the center city with bus transportation.
Though I was not impressed with the food we got served.
Several people had allergies and some where vegetarians.
They way it was solved was by putting signs on everything with what it contains, but that doesn`t help the fact that there was almost lactose og meat in everything.. :/
So I could only eat green salad, which is kind of dry and boring two days in a row.
There are so many ways to make nice vegetarian food. And for lactosefree, why not make the dish with lactosefree milk and then more people can eat it.
But all in all it was good service, nice location etc..
