We stopped on our way to lunch, nice little bridge with lots of flower boxes and hanging plants. Little parking area-good for a picnic or a place to read.

Talcott Mountain State Park

Reviewed By Susie1028 - San Diego, United States

Talcott Mountain offers a variety of different hiking trails, many of which lead to the top and the Heublein Tower. This park is wonderful during the fall, as it offers foliage during the hike. The main and shortest trail to the top is moderate: the initial 10-15 minutes of the hike are decently steep and will get your blood pumping but after that it levels off and becomes a much easier hike. In addition to the tower, at the top there are a bunch of picnic tables so you can pack a lunch/snacks and eat them at the top with a great view. I definitely recommend this place to bring family and anyone visiting! Well worth the effort for the views.

Heublein Tower

Reviewed By BusterBusBus - Orlando, United States

The tower itself is incredible. The views as you climb higher get more and more scenic. You can see for miles up in the tower on top of the mountain. When you enter you get a ticket, make sure to hang onto the ticket as you have to return it at the end. You climb the stairs on one side up, then one side down. Please if you go up do not turn around and go down. Wait till you get to a level and then go through the room and go to the downstairs stairs. Each level there are different rooms. As you climb to the top you will see all four directions of the North, South, East and West. Then you have to cli9mb down. On the window there are signs to show you what you are looking at. Wear good hiking boots or sneakers. There are a lot of stairs. The bathrooms are located out back around the side of the tower underneath.

Stratton Brook State Park

Reviewed By Susie1028 - San Diego, United States

I love Stratton Brook State Park in Simsbury, Conneticut. It has a lot of beginner hiking trails (short, flat, and easy). It is a great place to trail run. There is something for everyone here: a stream that flows into a small fishing area, a pond for swimming, a spacious beachfront, walking trails, bath house, covered bridge, picnic benches and areas for partying and cooking. Great place for families, pet friendly (dogs on lease allowed, not in water), handicap-accessible .
