This tour was absolutely beautiful. I've been to several other horseback riding tours in the States, but this was something special. The path that we took was stunning through a little fields, a bunch of woods paths, and several streams/creeks. The owners take great care of the horses and their riders to make sure everyone is happy. After the ride, they even had time to sit down with us to share some drinks and fresh fruit and talk for a while. Such an amazing, peaceful farm. If we get back, I want to go with them on the intermediate ride, but my girlfriend thought the beginner ride was challenging enough so I guess it's a great ride for all different types of levels.

Amazing rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife. We loved the "Coffee With the Slothies" morning tour. It was delightful to see the sloths up close and learn how they are rehabilitated so they can hopefully be returned to their own habitat. The other animals were also interesting and our guide explained the work that goes into caring for them. Highly recommended!

Catarata Del Toro Adventures

Reviewed By GigiandGreg - Peebles, Ohio

We drove to Catarata del Toro from Santiago de Puriscal and chose to stay 2 nights there. The road is sketchy in some places with signs of recent mudslide here and there, and our vehicle seemed to know that we were climbing up to 6050ft. The garden paths are well maintained and it appears that more plans are in the making for expanding the lovely garden area. There are concrete benches in strategic places for just sitting and gazing at the amazing waterfall. It is an incredible sight and seriously, I was pinching myself that we were actually seeing it. The hike down to the falls is pretty much straight down some wonderfully engineered concrete steps that make it easily accessible if you have enough energy and strength to go down as well as up. It is so worth it! We found the hike to the Blue River actually more strenuous because the road was newly cut and very muddy, making the long walk laborious. But here again, the reward is worth it as the cascading. Waterfalls and rapids of the Blue River are the most stunning surprises when you finally reach them. Spectacular! We so appreciate the work and efforts of the owners to make their property and its beauty available to the public. A great sight to see! The overnight in the room was just adequate. I should have brought warmer pj’s as we were quite chilled in the evening. With only one chair in the room and the dining room closed at 4, we felt a little cramped to spend our time, so just read in bed. I feel like a place to sit in the evening or a hammock area would be really helpful.

Our Lady of the Angels Basilica (Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles)

This church is best known for the 1635 appearance of the country's patron saint, the Black Virgin. An annual pilgimage takes place in August.

Reviewed By acorna - Vilnius

It is the most important religious object in Costa Rica and an important historical point, too. However, the building itself is comparatively new - present look in has acquired only in 1939. However, the architecture is interesting and somewhat unusual for Catholic churches as it bears Byzantine features. The Basilica, the original rock on which the figure of Virgin Mary was discovered and the miraculous spring are all objects of pilgrimage, so on Sundays and holidays the area is packed - plan your visit accordingly.
