December 22, 2017 Merry Kessler

Saint Julian's is a popular vacation spot on the coast of Malta. The small town successfully blends its fishing village charm with its tourist center. Latin architecture, such as Spinola Palace, built in 1688, and the Old Parish Church are popular historical sites. Divers will enjoy exploring shipwrecks via the Divewise Center.  The renovated Paceville district, a former military haunt in the 1930s, is now the hub of Saint Julian's nightlife with an array of restaurants, bars, and clubs.

A lovely walk around this very impressive marina for non-residents.
Beautiful yachts bobbing around in this man made marina overlooked by residential properties. There are some restaurants and a cafe near the entrance but we were here early on a Sunday morning. Well worth a look

Balluta Square

Lovely old square with some gorgeous old buildings. The church is fabulous. It was lovely to sit and sip coffee listening to the melody of the church bells.
There are a number of cafes, ice cream parlours and pizzerias across the road in Balluta Bay.
Not really an attraction in itself but a nice place to whittle away an hour or so having a lazy laid back coffee with nice views.
Can get busy with traffic during rush hour.

It retains many of the original architectural and interior design features, which have been successfully adapted to the requirements of casino patrons.

Very rude staff by the roulette table! No smiles, and almost hostile. This casino was nothing compared to other Casinos I've been to. Was very small.

The Casino at Portomaso

Reviewed By PJ1743 - Rye, United Kingdom

This casino used to a nice place to go - more upmarket than the Dragonara and with a restaurant as well. Now it's in a shocking state - very dingy, dark and grubby. The carpets are filthy and the white plastic chairs are split and in need of reupholstering. The restaurant has gone as well. There are a lot of building works in St Julian's and the Portomaso cafe next door has been demolished. Perhaps the casino is going the same way.
It looks like it's changed hands yet again so maybe the new owners have plans to refurbish it. Unsurprisingly there were very few people there and only one roulette table open which made the whole experience even more depressing.
