Katy Trail State Park

The Katy Trail is a perfect place to run, ride your bike or just go for a long nature hike. There is plenty of room for multiple lanes and everyone on the trial is very considerate of their space. The trail goes along the river and you can ride to the wineries if that is your thing or you can ride to downtown St. Charles and have lunch at the Bike Shop! Tom Brokaw of NBC reported live from the Katy Trail!

We went to St Charles especially to visit the centre being keen on the adventures of Lewis and Clark and it didn't disappoint. Well laid out right on the river bank with the friendliest and knowledgable staff we so enjoyed our visit, especially the film which was the highlight for both of us. Educationally it's terrific with the bonus of a well stocked and varied gift shop.

We had a wonderful time in downtown St. Charles. The area is a very charming and laid back district near the Missouri River. It features a variety of cool and unique shops, lots of great places to eat (meals and snacks), great bars, and lots of history. We loved the cobblestone streets. We spent a wonderful, relaxing day here and are looking forward to returning soon. Two big Power Trippers thumbs up! - The Power Trippers

First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site

Located within a stone’s throw of the Missouri River and Katy Trail State Park, and in the heart of historic St. Charles, First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site is the first seat of the state’s government. Its rough hewn timbers and dark wood floors whisper the tales of the state’s first legislature. Interpretive programs help visitors understand how the state’s government was formed and what life was like in the early 1800s.

We had a GREAT tour guide -- who was super nice and very informative. He answered all our questions. Tour that lasted about an hour. If you enjoy history, I'd definitely recommend.

This is an art gallery featuring work by on assortment of very talented people. We started our shopping excursion here (last time we finished here and didn't have the energy to fully appreciate the artwork). The photos on glass were my favorites - makes me want to do some of my own pics like that. Pre- Christmas, they also had a lot of neat ornaments and gift ideas. Some are expensive, some are cheaper.
