The last time I reviewed this, I only reviewed the museum, as we had unknowingly missed the opportunity to take the tour, so we just went back. The tour was GREAT! The cleanliness and organization of this huge factory and tour are impressive, the workers seem to be very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, and our Tour Guide, Eithel, seemed very knowledgeable!
The tour is given on the hour, between 9 and 2. This info is hard to locate on their website (which was our problem the first time!). We took the hour-long Classic tour (The Steel Toe tour is longer, and a little more in-depth.), which is also free. I suggest that you go to the bathroom before you enter the theater (The tour starts with a film.), as there's no opportunity to go once the Tour Guide starts speaking. Headsets are handed out, after the film, so that one may hear the tour guide in the factory. One is also given a souvenir pin, in the theatre, which needs to be worn during the tour.
I'm really not a fan of motorcycles, because of the noise (one of the reasons), but I loved this tour! The noise of the motor of motorcycles on the rode, is far louder, and much more offensive, to me, than the factory was.
I usually don't like to revisit places, but I would go back here.

The best outfitters ever. Family owned and operated, and they make everyone else feel like family, and treat them like family. Year-round events. Kayak excursions, live music on the beautiful front porch with one of the most scenic views of the Susquehanna. Lock 2 Cafe has an adequate selection of light fare and is always delicious. On paddle nights with dinner following in the Rookery, you will think you are dining at a Top Notch fine dining restaurant. Liz loves to cook and does an awesome job, using local produce when she can, cooking healthy but very, very tasty. And her presentation is always perfect. If you are renting or buying outdoor equipment, this is where you need to go. You will get the best equipment, best prices, and experienced people to demonstrate use of such equipment. And don't forget to pet the family pets (dogs) who are usually there, and such a wonderful part of the place.

This winery reflects the quality and work ethic of its founder, Dick Naylor. Over the years the wine has, in my opinion, gotten better, especially the dry wines. They have a large barn/shed like structure for the tasting area. Concerts are held on Saturdays during the summer; bring a lawn chair and a picnic basket to hear music under the stars. Tastings are $5 for five ( I think) wines, plus you get to keep the glass. This is worth the stop.

We are a bar and bottle shop all under the same roof with over 420 single craft bottles and 18 ever rotating taps to pick from. We also have live music every Saturday and Monday night.

I love this place. My boyfriend and I are both love beer so we frequent this joint a lot. The bartenders are all so friendly and so is the owner! They always have some sort of live entertainment every week too, which is great. The food menu is small but reasonably priced. I always get the cheeseburger and the fried pickles. Delicious every time. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves music, drinks, and good company.

The Haines Shoe House now offers guided tours, gift shop, ice cream & tasty treats for your enjoyment! Tours of the Shoe House are $5 per person and children 5 and under are FREE to tour with a guardian. Please call ahead for larger groups of 15 or more so that we can accommodate your group. We have seating inside and picnic tables on the grounds so that you can enjoy your treats, ice cream or a picnic lunch! There is also a clean porta potty on site for your convenience. We were on Route 30 in Hellam, PA (between York and Lancaster) when I caught a glimpse of a "shoe house" just off the highway. After trying to describe it to my husband, I asked him to get off at the next exit so that we could try to find it, and we did! What a GEM! This was built in 1948 by an eccentric shoe salesman, by the name of Mahlon Haines. For $5 per person, we had a WONDERFUL tour of the "house" which has now been lovingly restored! It's obvious that the new owners (for two years) are putting their heart and "sole" into sharing this wonderful historic property with others. Melanie (the owner and tour guide) shared interesting stories about the original owner, and there are many interesting artifacts throughout the house. I was impressed with their attention to detail, including flowers that were potted in boots on the porch, a little "shoe house" night light on a dresser in a bedroom, "shoe house" salt & pepper shakers, and much more! This far exceeded my expectations, not knowing really what to expect! It's a wonderful, unique, fun, family oriented place to visit, and you can end the tour with some AMAZING ice-cream. (I had the chocolate marsh mellow, and it was AWESOME!) You will not be disappointed in this wonderful example of "Americana" at its best! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. I LOVED this place, and I LOVED the warmth and friendliness of the owner!

Stopped by for a look at Grey Beards. Multilevel old building with a variety of items. Everything from glass to books to furniture to records and odds and ends. I'm sure everyone can find something to take home. Nice stop when in the area.

Allegro Winery has always been a favorite stop on the Mason Dixon wine trail and has always put out a nice spread of food and a nice tour with knowledgeable expertise on wines through the process from vine to the bottle, but NO MORE!
We have participated in the Wine off the Vine Tour and the Tour de Tanks for several years and that is how we were introduced to Allegro winery years ago. We noticed they were no longer listed on the tour, but thought to include it on our tour this year as it was always a favorite. Their wine is better than most on the tour and the food was better as well. We actually brought some cheeses and chocolates to enhance our wine tasting trip this time as many wineries provided next to nothing in the food dept., although that was part of what we were paying for on the tours, not to mention, it helps to eat food along the way (to stay sober) as most wineries on the trail are not close so there is alot of driving between wineries.
We told our friends about our past experience at Allegro and they wanted to go. I'm embarrassed at the way we were treated this year. Upon entering with my tiny cheese platter with crackers, we were told there was no room for that and they weren't even serving any food. I'm pretty sure it was the owner's wife that was so ornery. We were okay with that though. I asked why they weren't part of the Tour de Tanks anymore. They, the owner and the ornery woman, said very arrogantly, "we don't need to be," and "we are tired of dealing with drunks." Ouch. Barely in the front door, haven't even entered the tasting room and we are all a bit put out and wondering if we should leave...we put our smiles back on and entered the tasting room.
Quite frankly, I couldn't understand why they would discourage people bringing some cheese and crackers and chocolate to enhance the wine, especially when it helps with the alcohol factor for which they bear some liability and makes the wine taste better!
The lady helping us was very professional and if not for her we would have probably walked out without buying anything. She also encouraged us to enjoy our snacks. I had asked if the gentleman we had encountered early on was the owner and was told by another helper nearby that indeed he "was the boss and liked to be called boss." Imagine that.
It is a shame, but I predict the arrogance we encountered by the owner and the lady at the register upon entering the front door will be this winery's downfall... Their wine is good, but not that spectacular to have to endure their particular brand of arrogance.

Relaxing note is growing into a wonderful business and it's new location offers a more quiet, private, and spacious atmosphere. The owner, Jamie, is very professional and quite the hostess. Her massages are always built to suit your current needs and gives wonderful advice on taking care of yourself before, after, and in between massages.
