If you are looking to borrow a book, DVDs, cd, etc. then look no further. This is a large library with ample books and resources for basic needs. People sometimes study upstairs as it is quiet, and use their computers. I donated some books recently and the staff were very nice. Plenty of books for sale that were really cheap.

Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary

Winslow Farm Animal Awareness is a non-profit charitable organization devoted to the rescue and care of abandoned and mistreated animals. Established in 1996, Winslow Farm exists for one purpose: to provide love and care to the many animals without a home or for those that have been abused and/or neglected by their previous owners. A sanctuary where animals can learn to trust humans once again. In the fall of 1997, Winslow Farm opened it's doors to the public as an animal farm, offering the public an opportunity to meet and interact with the 183 animals that live on the farm. In addition to an animal sanctuary, Winslow Farm offers a variety of animal-oriented activities, including birthday parties for children, pony rides, group educational tours, nature hikes and trails, as well as special events occurring during the holiday seasons. These activities serve to educate the public about neglected, abused, and abandoned animals, general animal care, and allows animals the exposure to a population of "good" humans that these animals can learn to trust. Our Mission is to provide a high quality "stay-for-life" animal sanctuary, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and care of mistreated and abandoned animals, to promote the prevention of animal mistreatment through quality educational programs and events, and to advocate the preservation of wildlife habitat.

We came here as vegans...for us this was an emotional and touching experience. It was $10 per person for entry and we decided to bring donations as well. It is easy to find what donations are needed on their website. There is someone there to tell you about the animals (some can't be pet and none can be fed due to some diet restrictions). The property was beautiful and easy to get around. There were alpacas, horses, cats, goat, a pot bellied pig, and a bunch more! The cats were very friendly and one even jumped up into my arms. I can't wait to go back.

National Shrine of our Lady of La Salette

Reviewed By redeco - Warren, Massachusetts

The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette is a destination for pilgrims any time of year, but between Thanksgiving and the New Year, the shrine dazzles with 500,000 Christmas lights celebrating the birth of the Christ child. The display is provided for a free-will donation - so, there is no formal fee, and a visit here makes for a great family outing.

The lights are distributed over ten acres, and there is a massive amount of parking space. No admission fee (but loosen your purse strings and leave a donation); and pets were in evidence. They may or may not be allowed - not sure. There are several places to buy snacks. I tried a slice of the Canadian meat pie in the cafeteria (the line moves fast), and loved it. They also had wonderful desserts and hot chocolate.

The place is crowded, so expect congestion, whining kids, and visitors who are generally very nice and very patient. On weekends at 7 pm, I recommend Fr. Pat's concert of faith-based songs and carols. Fr. Pat accompanies himself on the guitar.

Bring the family, and Enjoy!

Borderland State Park

The 3-story home built by artist and suffragist Blanche Ames and her botanist husband Oakes, is the centerpiece of this park. Visitors can also walk and horseback ride, fish, canoe, ice-skate and sled.

Reviewed By jakegreenville - Milton, Massachusetts

Borderland State Park has easy trails for walkers and more challenging ones for hikers. I took the easy 3 mile walk which is a slightly uneven unpaved road that includes woodlands, three ponds, interesting rock formations, meadows and farmland. The mansion was closed during my visit, but the exterior is interesting and worth inspecting. The park is large and uncrowded. There is a visitor center with restrooms and trail maps. Overall a top walkers destination. Bring insect repellent.

Old Colony History Museum

The Old Colony History Museum houses significant collections which chronicle lives lived, wars waged, fortunes won and ingenuity rewarded. We encourage visitors to walk among our exhibits and discover regional history. Others can find their roots in our research library, specializing in local genealogy. The Museum's parent organization is the Old Colony Historical Society, one of the oldest organizations of its kind in New England. Founded in 1853, it serves the region of southeastern Massachusetts that was once part of the Plymouth Colony. At OCHM, we're committed to the preservation of our history through public engagement and community outreach. We're here to collect, curate, interpret and bring to vibrant life the history of the Old Colony, collaborating with the community to share those meaningful connections that knit together our past, present and future. We invite you to experience what we mean by history happens here. The Old Colony History Museum is located on historic Church Green in Taunton. The Museum has its headquarters in the former Bristol Academy, designed in 1852 by the New York architect Richard Upjohn.

I started going here for the genealogy and history library on the second floor, and then later on came to appreciate the ever changing exhibits on the first floor. The staff works hard to keep the information fresh and interesting, a challenge when working with the limitations of an old building that has an interesting history unto itself. A must visit place for anyone exploring the history of Taunton.

I have been to Four kids Birthday parties at Ryan's Family Amusements and they all did a great job. Bowling Duck pins is really fun. The place is great for all ages. If you are not the bowling type the arcade is State of the Art and the prizes are really nice. Mystic bowling is cool . It is light show effects and music while you Bowl. Fridays from 6 to Midnight it definitely beats the bowling I did when I was a teen in the 80's.The party packages here are a great value and are flexible. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. Raynham is one of nine Ryan's Amusements locations . They all vary on venue but they all are clean safe and friendly and not too bad on the wallet. Looking forward to a return trip. 5 Stars for making my kids happy.

There is a mix of food (cookies, breads, etc), coffee, organic beauty products, alpaca products, and of course Simpson Spring flavored drinks. It is nice to spend $ to support the local small business and we will continue to visit often.
