This is the real deal! Give yourself enough time to just want around this baroque town, the main square, the Gardens, the side streets, meeting and talking with the people, shopping in many of the local shops. Plan on spending at least a couple nights in the picturesque town.

The Duomo is stunning from the outside, unfortunately it was closed when we were there for the day and it was very confusing to find information as to when they would open. Would have loved to see the interior, it was unfortunate, so we sat at an outdoor café close by and just admired the exterior

Going up a narrow, meandering, twisting road, in places large enough for two people, yet the odd car would squeeze through honking its horn! I found it amazing that the Portale di San Giorgio and the Cathedral was still standing. Doesn't subsidence exist here? It has been well maintained and inside Saint George has pride of place as you enter. If you ask the man at the door he will put on the light so that your photo of San Giorgio will look good.

Although this review is for the beach at Lungomara I would say all of the Beaches at MDR are worth visiting. Just got back at the beginning of October and the Beaches were largely empty and unspoilt. The sea was so warm and inviting. Planning our next visit back there.

Really wonderfully kept Gardens at the lowest part of Ragusa Ibla. There is a beautiful church within the space and an old convent (now a hotel). I'd recommend about thirty minutes to just soak in the the calm.

After terrible earthquake of the 11th of 1693 the views of citizens of Ragusa were divided. One part (mostly nobility) decided to stay in the same place - at the Ibla hill (358 m); the other one (working class) chose a new place - nearby hill Superiore (502 m). The new church San Giovanni Battista schould be the centre of new town. Early Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla were two different towns and became one town last time in 1927 with Mussolini. Duce was fond of Ragusa as the cradle of fasism in Sicily and named it the capital of new province. The pope Pius XII started in Ragusa new diocese, and the church San Giovanni was Cathedral, respectively. The Cathedral was built a long time as usual: from 1718 to 1778 (consecration). The architects were Giuseppe Recupero and Giovanni Arcidiacono. But the construction didn`t finish in the best traditions of genre. The dome appeared in 1783, the left bell tower - in 1820. The right one has remained only on paper. Money and passion finished...Frontal part of Duomo is made in the best traditions of Sicilian Baroque. There are many small attractive details: sun clock on facade, angels with bulging eyes etc. The interior of Duomo is nice but not perfect.

I wanted a tee shirt from Sicili and the ones in Siculamente appeared to be the most stylish and best made. I bought two and have foudn that they wash well and the design has not faded - so woudl reocmmend them.

We visited this beach during May, and apart from ourselves, there was only one other person using it. In truth, it was both a windy and cold day. One bar was open, but when we visited a second time, it was closed. Beautiful sand, quite wide. The highlights were the Blue Moon ice cream parlour near the harbour, and the the east of the harbour a Freshwater stream surfaces on the beach, which is mesmerising.

The noble palace of Baron Arezzo is located in the historic centre of Ragusa Ibla, just in front of Duomo of St. George. The palace was rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake and completed in the 19th century. Visitor wiill enjoy the unique experience of discovering this historic palace, where the Arezzo family has been living for the last 200 years. From the ball room windows they will find the most striking view of the Duomo.

We were looking to do something different in Ragusa Ibla. We read the reviews of Palazzo Arezzo and they were right on. The palace has been preserved and maintained with care. The wallpaper and the frescos on the ceiling are original. The owner son Domenico Arezzo was very charming and took his time telling us the family history and answered all of our questions. The ball room is amazing, original hand painted majolica tiles are in perfect condition. The view from the window is stunning, look right into the Piazza Duomo. An amazing place. You have to make an appointment, we contacted Domenico by e mail and he responded quickly. We booked the tour with Aperitif and snacks. We walked by the palace twice. It is between the LaCoste Shop and the Post Office, black door.

Graceful Chiesa San Giuseppe with its elaborate facade is one of many Baroque treasures of Ragusa Ibla. The whole ensemble of the lovely Piazza Pola with the beautiful church right next to the Palazzo Communale is very atmospheric and adds charm to the gorgeous Baroque town. It is located not far from the Duomo and is very easy to find. Do not miss it!
