The Hill of Seven Colors

A visit to Purmamarca village is stunning for many reasons. Driving into it is truly breathtaking as the roads are curvy and basically follow the lines nature wanted them to.So, you slowly descend into the village and on a sunny day the display of the seven colours is magical. The village itself is nested between hills and everywhere you turn, you see some beautiful colour arrangement. If you are ever in the Argentine north, this place is a must.

Incredible landscape! Very difficult to describe! You have to be there to enjoy its immensity and beauty!
I went by car but you can climb it as well. Morning is advisable rather than the afternoon. It has to do with the light.
So many adjectives come to my mind to describe the Cerro Colorado: stunning, amazing, magical, spectacular, peaceful among many others!
Highly recommended!

You take this pass on your way to the salt flats and as mentioned by others, it is spectacular. We had rented a car and were able to take our time to enjoy the sceneries. So different from the majestic Rocky Mountains or the Pyrenees, but equally spectacular. Worth the trip for sure.

Cerro Morado

We did the scenic walk (3km) around the hill of seven colors. Beautiful. Would totally recommend it and we wished we had time to do it again!
Stayed for sunset, then moon / star rise. Full sunset was around 7:30. Stars better seen after 8pm – AMAZING!!!
We are from the NYC area, so light pollution usually precludes us from similar sights.

Mirador Geologico

Reviewed By Jnanayog - St. John's, Canada

Those who, have climbed up,and those who, have opted for, other possible views such as the walk/hike behind the Hills would probably concur that the view does not always depend on Elevation. Having done the tramp about the Hills, the climb or walk up, plus the careful ascent uo,the two cols to their summit. I am in agreement. In any event the 7 colors revealed here are truly a Wonder of Pachamama, Mother Nature.

Quick 3 km easy hike around the cerro. There were not too many people and you start from one end of the town and finish in the other. It is a nice relaxing walk.
