Chianalea di Scilla is one of the most beautiful Italian's Fishermans Borgos. You will find excelent restaurants and bars with a great view over the sea and over the town. We have visited at the end April 2016 and we had sunny days. Is an excelent period to taste the not crowd beautiful beach town. Chianalea di Scilla is an excelent option for Calabria visit. We wish to return soon.

Gorgeous long waterfront Promenade. Right at the water's edge are severamente beach bars great first aperitivo (happy hour drinks) or lounge on the beach after taking a dip in sea at one of the private beach lounges. Was there during the day but could see it as a very romantic sunset walk.

The Magna Grecia denotation is among other things an exceptional appellation in the sense that transcends national boundaries and nationalism as such. Italy with this museum and the Egyptioan in Torino is a world leader in sensitive unassuming serious presentations. The richness, texture, materials, geography are impressive and didactic. The museum is not crammed or grandstanding in any of its constituents. The building is solid and not meuseumesque. The personal, notation, framing are pleasant and do nt intervene or meddle.
The Riace duet is something worth coming to Italy for and you shall read the story and reflect on form, technique, beauty, history of and kinetic geometry.

I remember Taormina many decades ago when it was a lovely and pretty village. Now it's a chi chi tourist supermecado driven by economic forces that have stolen the heart of a once proud lion and needs but an admission turnstile to complete the desecration. I couldn't await to arrive each of three times I went and couldn't wait to leave the last time just this week.
Gerace is for me now something of what Taormina once was, minus a few vista bells and whistles. It's smart, lovely and varied in its offerings and overall extremely impressive. It won't be long before many more know this to be true. We'll see what fate has in store for it at such a point in time.
The crown jewel is the largest in Calabria Cathedral, with its fascinating not so small compelling museum underground. Together they resonate medieval times and values while providing insights and a fascinating education as to what it meant olive during such a period in such an environment. The architectural masterpieces abound in both setting and structure thought Gerace.
It's also a great town for shopping as prices are almost ridiculous in terms of wonderful value for great options in a few select shops. My wife and I walked out of two shops having spent under E80 and loaded for bear with delightful mementos for much of our extended family. You'd think we'd spent $350 for the lot.
Great town, wonderful Cathedral and museum, compelling history and dining, bergamot liquor (and other related products) as well as many other shops easy on the pocketbook. What a visit!

We were there on an overcast day, but could still easily see Sicily. Area is local hangout. People were very friendly. We were lost and asked directions and a man had us follow him in his car to our Ban B, which would have been extremely difficult to find on our own.
Later returned for a drink in a little bar. Enjoyed watching the old townfolk hanging around.

The old village lies on a scenic place. Because of people needed to move, there is no more permanent living people here. But some artists and some shops with local products are coming here, especially with bergamot products. Very interesting, nice and tastfull

This ancient Greek theater replica is in the central part of Reggio's Lungo Mare, seaside Promenade. It's certainly one of the highlights and Reggio's landmarks.
The bronze statue of goddess Athena protects the people of Reggio, and is a perfect photo spot with Sicily in the background.

I travelled alone there during February 2014. This hamlet is so peaceful and the view is one of the most amazing that i ever seen before. Cattolica is a church where Tommaso Campanella made Stilo famous for his Scripts like "La Cittá del Sole - City of the Sun". I suggest to Travellers, Wanderers and fanatic of Arts to see it and enjoy the historical course of life. 10/10

During an otherwise lovely trip to Mammola and Reggio Calabria, we made the unfortunate decision to stop in for a visit to the MuSaBa.
When we arrived on a Friday afternoon in July, the grounds were completely empty and no sign of the proprietor or staff. We walked up the hill toward what looked like the main building, when we were stopped by a woman (the owner/artist?) who (in perfect English) told us we were on a private walkway and to turn around. She made no effort to introduce herself, welcome us, or ask us anything about why were at the museum. Instead, she found it odd enough that we were four men traveling to together to ask us why that was the case. Bizarre. Eventually, a younger girl appeared to take us into one of three buildings on the hill. She collected our 5 euros/person and after spending about 5 minutes in one building, she said that the keys/doors to the other two buildings were not working and that we couldn't see anything else. We left.
Overall, a bizarre experience with poor service. Avoid.

Definitely the best Ice Cream of Reggio Calabria. Soft, tasty, with numerous cool flavours, this became my favourite spot in the city. This place stand out from the other Gelateries based on pure quality. The best combination, in my opinion, is the "Spagnola" (cherry and cream based) and "Cesarella" (nutella based). Fantastic.
