This place was the residence of Justo José de Urquiza who the first constitutional president of Argentina. He also was a wealthy landowner, rancher and industrialist. This place is locate not far from the shores of the Uruguay River that it the border between Argentina and Uruguay.
The architecture of the building is typical of the Argentine estancias, a main entry into an inside patio surrounded by rooms on all four sides, which reflects teh Italian influence in architecture.
European masters, resulting in Italian and French designs visible everywhere, built this “palace” in 1854.
The house had internal bathrooms with hot running water, illumination by carbide gas, later changed to electrical. Carrara marble everywhere, the internal décor of the walls of the room vary from English (man’s parlor) to French (woman’s parlor) or living room. Floors are of marble or red French tiles. A everything came from Europe including a Carrara marble sculptures well.
The Gardens are typically French, similar to Versailles, including a two city blocks size pools built with brick walls.
We have visited many residences, palaces in Europe and we were truly surprised to find such degree of refinement in the middle of the subtropical sabana in Argentina.
If you are around the area it worth to drive the few extra miles to see this jewel. Is about six kilometers from a very good freeway connecting the area with Buenos Aires; about 3.5 hours drive.

If you like thermal waters you have to go to this one. We have been in many thermal waters in many different countries and loved this one. Loads of pools, the place is huge so even if there is a lot of people it does not feel crowded. Will come back!!

Hace 4 años había ido a la termas y de todas las que conozco fueron las que mas me gustaron, ya tenía la pileta con olas y el parque acuatico estaba en construcción. Ya hace un par de años que funciona el parque acuatico (dentro del complejo termal y de libre acceso) que emula con creces el parque acuatico Aquamania ubicado en las termas de Dayman (uruguay), tiene como 8 toboganes, 7 de ellos de complejidad baja disfrutable tanto para chicos como grandes, y uno que es terrible solo para adultos. Tiene un rio lento que bordea todo el complejo muy bueno, piletas con juegos tipo de plaza dentro de la misma pileta, buena gastronomía y la famosa pileta con olas muy disfrutable. Sigue siendo para mi, el mejor complejo termal, al menos, de Entre Rios por lejos.....la entrada cuesta $250 mayores funciona desde muy temprano hasta la noche y la gastronomia es barata... Te ponen una pulsera que podes salir y entrar al complejo durante el dia todas las veces que quieras, podes llevarte tus propias reposeras, sombrillas, sino tenes disponibles en caso de haber mucha gente (los fines de semana se complica conseguir sombra si no se va temprano)

Beautiful leisurely walk along the river, between the water and the park. You can run, bike, walk, and take many pictures. The sunrise is beautiful. Full moon reflecting on the river is priceless!

I visited the Nacional Park El Palmar in December. It is a famous park in Argentina located on the center-west of the province of Entre Ríos, 50 km of the city of Colón. It was created for the preservation of its characteristic Yatay palm trees. It also has old ruins, a beach, grassland and the Uruguay River. Very nice place to visit!

Lengua de oro
En la soledad de los tiempos el gran reptil abre su boca de fronda y lame con su lengua de oro el agua fresca que baja del norte.
Cueva de los negros la bautizaron pero para quien la ve desde el cielo es un lagarto inmenso que navega contracorriente bebiendo las aguas transparentes del Uruguay.
Cambacuá. La más bella de todas. La más solitaria. La menos conocida.
Cambacuá. Privilegio de los más acomodados que llegan al arenal en sus lanchas y sus yates. Atrevimiento de las clases medias que la toman por asalto a lomo de un lobo de agua. Amiga de canoeros y pescadores…
Por el camino que va de Regatas al muellecito del puerto bajan Alicia, Amalia y Virginia. Las señoras casi arrastran sus banquitos de playa en el solazo de las diez de la mañana. Suben al Lobopé y esperan pacientes la hora de partida. Veinte minutos de catamarán separan el calor de la ciudad de Cambacuá. Desde las ventanitas Concepción del Uruguay ofrece el perfil menos conocido por sus ciudadanos mientras el barquito se aleja lentamente buscando la Stella Maris para encontrar el camino hacia la isla.
Por una galería de árboles se llega desde el amarradero hasta la cantina de troncos y allí cada uno elige su lugar. Las señoras enfilan hacia el Oeste. El camino más corto que lleva a la playa que mira hacia la ciudad agobiada detrás de los matorrales de la Isla del Puerto. Hernán, un porteño casi típico, y su amigo buscan la soledad, más allá del arenal amarillo donde la mirada se pierde en la boca del arroyo Negro, sobre la otra costa del río.
De un lado, las señoras arrancan su primer mate y del otro los amigos chapalean buscando una profundidad que nunca llega. El sol del mediodía exige refugio de sombrilla o de cantina, bastante de agua fresca, bronceador y coraje para resistir hasta la tardecita. Un chapuzón, otro más. La caminata interminable. Otra rueda de mate y otro chapuzón. La tarde avanza lenta, sin ritmo, con pachorra veraniega. El Lobopé va y viene trayendo a los desertores de la siesta y los yates y las lanchas forman ramilletes en derredor de la lengua de arena. Poco a poco el verano se desvanece como los castillos de arena de los niños.
El día se acaba. Hernán, su amigo y las señoras emprenden el regreso. Cambacuá se ha quedado sola y la ciudad se refresca en un cielo de naranjas, rosas y azules.
La luna llena se alza en la noche de enero. El lagarto dormido hunde su lengua de oro en las aguas plateadas del río.

The Raúl Uranga---Carlos Sylvestre Begnis Subfluvial Tunnel (in Spanish, Túnel Subfluvial) was opened on 13th December 1969, after decades of rejected ideas, delays and cancelled projects including the idea of a suspension bridge. If you do not have a car there are buses that run from Parana to Santa Fe form the omnibus terminals in each city for about US$2.one way. It is the only road tunnel of its kind in Argentina. It is named after the two provincial governors who signed a joint treaty in 1960 to authorize the start of construction. It is used by local residents and tourists to make the connection between the two provinces for work and pleasure.

Good place to go and hang out :-) away from the busy city life. We caught a bus from Concordia, so you need to walk a little way before you actually get there. Take a picnic, not much out there in the way of food.
