Vino Versum Poysdorf

Nonseum

An eccentric, wacky village and a museum for inventions no one needs.

Reviewed By gk2005 - Tel Aviv, Israel

Nonseum is a quirky museum for crazy and funny ideas and inventions that no one could really find a use for in real life.
It was created in 1983, by Fritz Gall and Friedl Umscheid, two locals who decided to offer a home to exotic inventions that never really took off.
The Nonseum has hundreds of useless, funny, exotic and eccentric items on display. After only several minutes visiting the museum, I cannot help but laugh out loud myself.
The Nonseum museum is so weird & wonderful that it truly merits the visit.
In the end of the visit - local wine tasting.
Nonseum is a unique museum - Highly Recommended!

In Valtice there is a Castle (Chateau). There is also Baroque theater in this castle. A nice girl made us here. I was surprised that the seats in the auditorium did not have backs. In my opinion, it's because people are not here to rest, but they're focused on the game. On the stage, it was interesting to see the backdrop.

Nice walk on sunny days, about 0.7 km. I would not recommend for people with small children or elderly. It is up the hill and terrain is uneven, many steps. Nice view of Mikulov.

Zamek Lednice

In the Czech Republic's countryside sits Lednice Castle. Not only is it interesting, it also has lovely Gardens and amazing green house containing exotic plants. It also has a minaret -- apparently built by the owner because the local authorities would not let him build what he wanted to build. Definitely worth a visit.

Great place to admire the view of the Lednice-Valtice-Mikulov area. There is a small car park a very short stroll away. For a small fee you can climb up the spiral staircase and admire the surrounding country side. The ticket lady offers also a small selection of wines for tasting. So what's not to like? :o)
After that you can join the 5km long so called barefoot trail along the well marked route. The trail leads you past vineyards along the Czech-Austrian border with great views.
There are eleven stations located along this round route, which are intended to provide different sensory impressions when walking barefoot (on pebbles, pinecones, mud etc). Hence the name of this trail. Perfect for children.

Zamek Mikulov

Reviewed By eilonglen - Ashkelon, Israel

Detouring from our planned route, driving through to Slovakia, we made a quick pit-stop in Mikulov, located near the border crossing. To our pleasant surprise, we discovered an attractive and bustling little city which turned into a serious visit, taking in the impressive Castle and its beautiful Gardens, perched on a hilltop in the center of this spotless and thriving regional capital. We were unable to enter the massive structure but the stroll around the imposing facility was well worth the time, as was the added-value of the beer festival thronging the narrow lanes below the castle, drawing hundreds of visitors from the surrounding areas to the many stalls offering food and delicacies as well as handcrafts for sale. Accustomed to the bucolic pace of life in most of the Czech towns we had already visited, Mikulov was a 'strong breeze' instead of a breath of fresh air and proved to be a highlight of our trip. The town center is a gem of its own and boasts some impressive churches and public buildings too.
Well recommended stop when crossing the country.
