O' Fish Spa

The "fish massage" is performed by the doctor fish (Garra rufa). It can effectively remove the dead skin of the feet and hands. It decreases stress and tension by a micro massage of the entire surface of the skin. The first minute, you will feel light tickling and then a feeling of small air bubbles under the feet. For strict hygiene reasons, your feet (or hands) must be washed and disinfected pri

10€ pour 20 minutes mais on nous a laissé 35 minutes. Soin à conseiller: ce n'est pas une attraction mais un vrai soin spa. On ressort les pieds gommés, nettoyés de toute peau morte.

Enjoy trying out the local wines with the help of the friendly staff in this newly redecorated Cave Cooperative . Cut out the middleman by buying direct from the local producers . I buy from the pump ( like at the petrol station) in 5 litre containers the exceptionally good local red table wine . Try sampling too the bottled or bag in box wines they stock here .
Opening hours in July & August 9h-13h & 15h-19h

Les Velos de Portiragnes

Hired a bike to ride along the Canal du midi in Portiragnes. 10 miles into my ride in the middle of nowhere my bike gets a flat. Midday very hot, I call the telephone number of the bike hire place and no one answers. After having a horrible day and finally getting someone along the canal to fix it, we get back 8 hours later.
The owner said he would not have come out to assist us anyway, it only happens in about once or twice in a season. I said all the more reason to help!! He was not interested and didn't even offer any kind of compensation or sympathy. It cost me £20 to get it fixed.

I'm lucky enough to see the flamingoes nearly every time I walk past the lagoon . There are so many ducks & birds to discover that I take my binoculars with me on my walks .
Dogs have to be on leads as we share the pathways with joggers , bicycles & horse back riders . It's becoming very popular , especially on overcast days when people don't want to sit on the beach .
Children enjoy these walks / bicycle rides too as there are donkeys , sheep , horses , bulls , rabbits etc to see as well as the birds. There are 3 lengths depending on the distance you want to go when following the signposts . Pick up a brochure with map at the tourist information office to pick out your route , or go with the guided tour at €2 in the hight of the season.

Built in black basalt mined nearby ., St Felix is a 13 th century church; classified as an historical monument since 1932.
Lovely stained glass windows & beautiful vaulted ceiling ( unfortunately my photos of the interior did not turn out very well so can only post exterior snapshots). It is pleasant to find a church open so if you are in the old village of Portiragnes stop by & have a quick visit to this tranquil place.

Thursday there is also a free guided visit to the old village as well as the museum .
I was pleasantly surprised at the number of exhibits & to learn that the Romans & Greeks had such a big influence here .
A must on a rainy day when you can't laze on the beach .
