Top 10 Things to do in Port Saint Lucie, United States

August 9, 2017 Natalie Tallman

For a town that was no more than a fishing camp and a few farms fifty years ago, Port Saint Lucie has grown to be a lovely vacation spot. Port Saint Lucie is the location of the spring training camp for the New York Mets. Visit Tradition Field and see how the team is shaping up for the coming season. Then, if you love to golf, head over to the PGA Village, a 51-hole complex with a learning center and historical center. To the east of Port Saint Lucie is the Atlantic Ocean, so you'll want to schedule at least one day for the beach. Port Saint Lucie is also located just north of the Saint Lucie River, so you can explore the beauty of the river region on the St. Lucie River Princess. You'll cruise in comfort and be taken by the breathtaking scenery of natural Florida. The cruise is shaded from the sun and narrated for your education and entertainment. Cruises start in the afternoon, so you can spend a leisurely morning first. You can also explore nature on foot by hiking in the Savannas Preserve State Park. The park also offers canoe trips and guided explorations. No trip to Port Saint Lucie would be complete without a visit to Lily's Cafe. It serves great food at great prices. If you're lucky, Lily herself might be your waitress. If you're feeling more exotic, El Cubanito serves Cuban cuisine in a family atmosphere. Other restaurants include seafood, Indian cuisine, and American cuisine.

There's two sides of the stadium to enter for parking. Choose the East side for easier parking access.

There are two ramps on either side to enter the stadium. It doesn't matter which you use.

The food prices are cheaper here. $9.50 for a cheeseburger, it comes with a full basket of Nathan's French fries. They sell kinshes. (You'll feel like your back in NYC)

I spent the day strolling around Stuart while my husband attended a meeting. Loved the town and the riverwalk is beautiful. Just one block off downtown with plenty of free parking near by PLUS a free shuttle. Restaurants near by as well. It was a great place to spend the afternoon and one I'll return to.

This is the ONLY dog friendly beach in St. Lucie County on the Atlantic Ocean, incredible views and the dogs and owners love it. If you travel with your pet a must spot when in the Treasure Coast of Florida

Great dog beach, if you do not want your stuff invaded by a pup, go to another beach all along the Eastern seaboard. This is a great place to take your pooch, the parking lot is set back off the road so little chance of Fido running into the street. I took my dog there when she was a pup in order to socialize her...great fun!

Vine & Barley

Reviewed By BubbleMarker - Fernandina Beach, Florida

Expecting a wine bar.... This is more a beer bar (75% of customers drinking beer) than wine so that is what they cater too. Appreciate they are trying to appeal to these two groups but it does not work well.
First, you self serve your wine. Ok. But there is no guidance via signage or even when you go to the beer bar, not self serve, to purchase your wine card. We stumbled through it but still needed assistance.... Did not get much help. Because it is self service you lose all interaction and lose any chance of asking questions and becoming educated on the wines.
The wines were all fairly low end. These are $8 - $15/ bottle wines. There were a few mid range but for the most part they were not high quality and not very good.
The cost is expensive. $1.40 giver or take for a taste, one oz. Five oz in a glass so if you do five tastings you have paid $7 for a glass of wine. Of course tastings are expected to be more expensive but this is too much for the quality of wine. Five glasses per bottle... $35 for a $9 wine.
There really is no food. They offer, for about $15, meat plates, cheese plates, meat/cheese plate. They also offer a few desserts. Pricey for the quality and the amount.
Atmosphere... The chairs were very uncomfortable as was the sofa. The outside area was full of smokers. The inside was noisy. The people at the bar were chatting loudly, there were two tables of people playing games, a cute idea but this creates a lot of noise with people laughing, etc. There was no quiet area for a couple or group to quiet themselves away for good conversation.
The two employees were not friendly at all. They seemed put out when we asked for assistance trying to figure out the system. They seemed put out when we asked for a plate of meat and cheese. They did not interact with anyone on the wine side, only at the beer bar.
Conclusion.... This missed the mark for wine bar. It is more of a beer bar and they would probably do better if they dropped the wine and strictly focused on beer because someone will eventually open a true wine bar with tapas in the area and fulfill that niche.

Veterans Park at Rivergate

The only thing missing is a playground for children. Other than that, this park has 4 large shelters/pavilions with barbecue grills, 3 boat/canoe launches, ample parking for cars and trailers, and best of all a long boardwalk thru a wooded natural area and then along the river. There's also a Pearl Harbor Memorial near the main entrance. Nearby are a couple restaurants, a Publix grocery, and other conveniences.

Treasure Coast Model Railroad Club

Reviewed By chuck r - Boca Raton, Florida

I love the Treasure Coast Model railroad club. Every time we have young visitors I bring them here. Unfortunately they are only open Tuesday evening and Saturday morning. It is too late on Tuesday for young ones and too early for me on Saturday AM (I Like my sleep). There are 5 major sections to the railroad representing different landscapes/environments. Great craftmanshop and the members are excited to talk to you. Go Visit. I always donate $20 when I am there.
