Orcutt is an unincorporated town located in the Santa Maria Valley of California, and a census-designated place; it is in Santa Barbara County, California, United States. Orcutt is named for William Warren Orcutt, the manager of the Geological, Land and Engineering Departments of the Union Oil Company. Known as the “Dean of Petroleum Geologists" Orcutt is credited with discovering fossilized prehistoric animal bones preserved in pools of asphalt on the Hancock Ranch. These would be the first of many fossils excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits. In commemoration of Orcutt’s initial discovery, paleontologists named the La Brea Coyote in W.W. Orcutt’s honor, Canis orcutti.

For more than 50 years PCPA - Pacific conservatory Theatre has been presenting exemplary theatre and providing excellent training with a resident company of theatre professionals. Begun in the summer of 1964, founder Donovan Marley laid the ground work for a year-round professional theatre company. PCPA remains the only resident professional company on the Central Coast producing consistent quality entertainment for the community while training thousands of actors and theatre technicians for a career in theatre.
Fun and well done theatre, very fair family friendly cost, and kid friendly snacks and intermission.

You'll Love the pony rides and hot dog stand lady; they make a delightful Adventure for children or grandchildren! Finish off by cooling down in the water areas; lakes for feeding ducks( bring stale bread), waterfall Ponds for stone climbing and shady picnic/barbecue areas! It can get crowded, especially on weekends with many sections reserved for large parties or events, but there's still room for fun! Even college kids like to come home and go feed the ducks!

A beautiful winery, and there's plenty of places to sit inside or out. There's a couple of wine tastings to choose from, and our host, Cambria, was really friendly and helpful. They do an excellent charcuterie sharer platter, great quality and size, but be aware that the kitchen closes at 4pm - you can pre-order if you are going to arrive after then.

This Boutique winery was established in 1995. The tasting room is the most recent addition to the project, and opened in the heart of Orcutt in Fall 2014. Winemaker, Clarissa Nagy strives to produce wines that exhibit the flavor profile of Santa Barbara County and the specific vineyard sites: Bien Nacido Pinot Blanc, Santa Maria Valley Garey Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley Rose of Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley White Hawk Vineyard Viognier and Syrah, Los Alamos, CA With a background in Food Science and a love for sensory, Clarissa has set up the tasting room to Bring that experience to her customers. During a visit, one will experience why and how the shape of the wine glass changes the sensory experience. The same wines are presented side by side in the recommended glass verses an alternate wine glass. Clarissa can often be found behind the bar pouring, when she is not in the cellar or walking blocks in the vineyard. The tasting room is also open by appointment of Monday and Tuesday.
We visited on a quiet Friday afternoon and were delighted to have Clarissa Nagy, the winemaker, pouring for us. The space is pleasant and Clarissa was a pleasure who possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area. We enjoyed all of her current releases, particularly the Pinot Blanc and the Syrah. The wines were expressive and full of character and I would not hesitate to recommend them. We shipped some home, which was very easy, and can't wait to revisit them.

A small museum at the Santa Maria airport with displays of current and older models of aircraft. The most interesting fact is where some of the Norton bomb sights mechanisms were kept. It was a real surprise.

We went there and hiked for about 2 hours without exploring everything. It is not flat terrain, however it's doable for a beginner hiker, with sandy trails that used to be paths for the gas company equipment. We took the manzanita, valley view, fire and watershed trails, up and down. At the entrance you have to register and pay a few dollars to enter (free for Santa Maria residents). The trails have regular shade stops with water and portapotties.
We had some very nice views around. Some people came to walk their dog. We also saw a couple of petroleum pumps just outside the park. A good place for short hikes and views with no crowds.
