MagicBroomstick (Segway) Tours

Magic Broomstick Segway Tours is an absolute "Must do" while you are in Auckland. This activity is fun and exciting and just a little out of the ordinary as you experience the unique sensation of riding a Segway. We first teach you the art of riding then you're off on a tour or short ride. Gliding to the summit of Mt. Victoria or North Head, Devonport's volcanic cones, where you can checkout the Military fort's of the 1880's and be gob-smacked by the awesome views of Auckland city and the Hauraki Gulf is suitable for those over 13 years of age. If you would like a shorter ride we have a "Taste" of Segway which takes in the Beaches and Victorian Villa's of Devonport. If you have a 10 year old in your group you can still experience the awesome Segway as we have a FUN Family ride especially for you.

We LOVE segways and the moment we stepped off the ferry from Auckland and spotted the segways, we knew we had to do it. Our plan was to visit Mt Victoria and this was a great way to do it. Adam was our guide and I was so happy that we fit into their schedule since we didn’t have a reservation. We were the only ones on the tour and it was great. It was a warm day and you could see it on the faces of the people walking up the hill. Adam did a great job and also gave us a great reference for lunch. Would highly recommend!!!!!

Sky Tower

Auckland's Sky Tower is the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, this tower is more than 300 metres high. Offering stunning views, along with award winning restaurants, a gift shop and an opportunity to push your limits by walking the outside of the viewing platforms, or by jumping off from 192 metres above Auckland's CBD.

The Sky Tower was a great experience. The lifts were readily available and quick. The glass panel in the floor was a good touch. The views from the viewing platforms were superb. They keep you informed when and if there is anyboby going to do the jump. We were fortunate and got a couple of great shots of someone in mid air. Noit overly expensive and well worth a visit.

Browns Bay Beach

Reviewed By WarrenAus - Redland City, Australia

This beach is for walking, laughing and launching your boat rather than for bathing in May. I did not see any bathers so that tended to make the point.
We really loved seeing the couples with their dogs eagerly bounding up and down the beach and the families enjoying the good weather and a great walk on the beach.
This is not a white sand beach as the sands are likely volcanic in nature. That does not diminish the fun though.
We also loved the views at either end of the bay that rise up to a cliff face.
There is a great Park for kids right next to the beach,

Auckland Night Market

Reviewed By Alan G - Feilding, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand

There are a number of Auckland Night Markets on different nights and different venues. I do not know if the stall holders are the same in each location. There was a HUGE selection of 'street food' vendors with great looking variety's. There were Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Lebanese and Jamaican street foods available. The markets start about 17:30 through to 23:00. Well worth tracking one down at least to have a good selection of foods with a difference.

This takes 2.5/3 hours from The Divide car park. There’s plenty of parking (we had a 7.5m camper!) and drop toilets at the car park. It’s about an hour steady uphill but not anything too difficult, we did it on a very hot day. At the top there’s a nature walk which takes about 20 minutes and offers more nice views- there are meant to be leaflets telling you about the plants etc but those had run out.
Very well maintained path and manageable for most walkers- take plenty of water though as the top is exposed and very hot.

We took our 2 grandchildren aged 6 and 3 here for an hour and were impressed with the standard of cleanliness and safety. Lots of "court monitors" in evidence to keep the older children from getting too exuberant but also willing to play with the younger ones, making sure everyone enjoyed themselves in a safe way. The safety briefing at the beginning is compulsory before the start of the session each hour so you need to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Sessions start on the hour. Adults may also up with young children but everyone is required to purchase/wear special socks, thus ensuring the cleanliness of the trampolines. The very large space is sections for various levels of activities. 1 pm seems a good time to go - we found it very quiet with less than about 30 children so lots of space to play. Highly recommended (not 5 stars because of the price of the water)

Mount Victoria Reserve

Reviewed By bizzydragon - Peterborough, United Kingdom

Whether you want views, history, food or shopping.... it can all be had here. A roundabout land route can be shortened by a ride on the Fullers Ferry from Pier 1, Queens Wharf. Return tickets for adults cost 12.50NZ$ or the AT Hop top-up card can be used on Ferries, as well as on the trains and buses for the 12 min crossing.
A 15-25 min walk gets you to the summit of Mount Victoria from the ferry terminal, where you are rewarded with spectacular views of Auckland, Mt Rangitoto and Waitemata harbour.
Plenty of places can be found for well-cooked food. There is a well-sheltered area near the beach to rest and watch sailboats or windsurfers. Not a great number of shops in this pretty place but a great variety and bargains can be found by the shopping-savvy. The tourist info office, on Victoria Road is well stocked with leaflets and a warm welcome. Go once and you'll want to go back to see if you missed anything.

Takapuna Markets

Reviewed By Brunkell - Auckland, New Zealand

I just LOVE this market. Every Sunday morning you can find fresh veggies, fruits and bread at Takapuna in the carpark located behind the Burger King.
The farmers come along with not just that but honey, homemade soaps, fresh juice and so much more.
You can also enjoy a good music played by some locals, so much fun. Come early, they are all up around 8:30 - 9 am
