My wife and I drove down from Rome today to visit this cemetery. We were astounded by the excellent landscaping and how well maintained this cemetery was. Hopefully, there will never be any US government budget cuts that affect the upkeep of this cemetery.

We spent time at the different Cemeteries devoted to the WWII dead... the British cemetery here, the US cemetery at Nettuno, the Polish cemetery at Cassino. Each has its own style. Here it is much more personal, with notations on many monuments and little personalized Gardens. A moving experience, fitting memorial to the WWII dead.

When I visited this site the beach was really dirty. Rome and the Lazio region are really expensive, how come they don't spend a couple of euros to clean the place? A shame. Avoid Nettuno in general, really not interesting.

A Site of European Importance, the park shows you what the coastline looked like before the lido and the Beaches were developed. Beautiful place with several different habitats: the coastal dunes, a coastal forest of Mediterranean evergreens and oaks that covered the entire Lazio coast in the past, streams & wetlands with their different sorts of vegetation, and an ancient sulphur mining site. A remarkable and rare landscape with many different sorts of birds and animals.

Santuario Santa Maria Goretti

Reviewed By RonL40 - Utica, New York

The sanctuary is a tomb, a memorial to the short life of a 12-year-old girl, Maria Goretti, killed in 1902 after fighting off her potential rapist. Declared a saint in 1950, she is one of the youngest saints ever canonized. The story of this virgin saint (recounted in several Italian films) is a popular one in Italy. The Sanctuary contains a hollow life-size statue of St Mary Goretti, prone, in which her body lays. Would I go to the Sanctuary if I were not in Nettuno? Probably not. But it is part of the living religiosity of Italy… anyone really interested in knowing Italy should understand the lives of people like Maria Goretti, Gianna Molla, Luigi Orione and Padre Pio. For that, the Sanctuary is definitely worth visiting when you are here.

Our B&B with harbor views seemed nice in the pictures but we could hardly sleep at night due to the large amount of teen agers loitering on the harbor square till late drinking and shouting profanities. It's strange that such a upscale resort such as Anzio allows such behavior. We will definitely not stay here again. It was an unpleasant and unnecessary inconvenience.

Borgo medievale di Nettuno

Reviewed By Neill G - Nottingham, United Kingdom

We stayed in Nettuno for 4 days in August 2016 for a seaside break. The medieval walled old town was a delightful find, completely unexpected - the narrow streets and piazzas had lots of restaurants and lots of character. We enjoyed wandering here in evenings finding places to eat, one of our favourites was eating pizza to go with a beer like the locals on small tables in the main piazza. With it only being 1 hour from Rome by train it is busier at weekends.
