My husband and I arranged a wine tasting over email with Grazia after seeing that the winery was along our cycling route. The tasting happened to be at noon, and when we arrived, we were surprised to see that Grazia was preparing lunch for us to have with her and her husband. The food was wonderful - we had multiple salads, pasta, peppers, cheeses, and more and we ate fresh fruit from their garden - everything was so fresh, authentic and amazing! We spent probably two hours at their home eating, drinking their wonderful wines, and having interesting, thoughtful conversations. Giovanni and Grazia were so welcoming and we hope to visit again one day!

Castello di Montegufoni

Reviewed By ProfessorMoon - New Jersey, United States

We stayed in a villa on the grounds of the castle. Our accommodations were 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms so everyone was able to fit nicely and enjoy the common dining area with seating for 8 around a large table and also couch, two additional chairs and a large fireplace (which we didn’t use). Remember this is self-catering so you will need to bring supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, dish soap, and bags for trash. Otherwise, you will find yourself lacking something important. Linens and towels are provided, and they were of nice quality. Dishes, glassware, and utensils were sufficient for the eight people in our family. The refrigerator was bigger than a mini fridge, but not full sized. The stove had four burners, but no oven. We used it mostly for boiling tea water. The grounds and the views of the area are stunning. You are in the hills of Tuscany and fields and vineyards are not hard to find. Plenty of trees including fruit trees and olive trees right outside the villa! The staff was so helpful and kind. Their friendliness was very evident, and they were more than proficient in English so that we didn’t have to butcher the Italian language to make ourselves understood. The restaurant served tasty food and the reservation process was easy.
