I have been coming here since the mid 1990's, I admit I am biased because it brings me good old memories. I have been there twice in August and appreciated - as usual - the cleanliness and the varieties of activities available.
Aside for the lake and the nice playground (Martindale beach), we have been to the petting farm which is nice and very educational.
On our second visit my kids loved the Splash 'n Blast (fee to enter), a good alternative to the beach.
Very neat bike route.

Proud Lake State Recreation Area

Proud Lake State Park os just a quick drive from many western Detroit subburbs, but gives the feel of "up north", albeit with an occasional sound of traffic. They offer swimming, boating, canoe rental, and camping. Because of its close proximity getting a camping space may be a challenge on nice weekends. I'd recommend the state's online reservation portal to assure yourself a spot. If you did not spring for the $12 liscense plate "recreational passport" tag upgrade you will need to pay only for your admission, except if you want to rent a camping space of course.

As soon as Autumn comes around, this is the place to be. They have the best cider and make the greatest plain and apple cinnamon donuts! They can't be beat, especially when they're warm. Whenever you're visiting Kensington Metro Park or headed to a University of Michigan game in Ann Arbor, be sure to stop and pick up some cider and donuts for your picnic or tailgating. You'll be glad you made the stop!

Tough course that was in the process of renovation. Staff was very curious and the course was tuff. Fun to play with curious blind holes. We had great fun. Driving range was a little unusual in that you hit balls out into a borge. Course was great though with crazy variation. I would love to play there again now that I know where to go on the blind holes

Kayaked here with family as part of a week end celebration and we had a great fun trip. The current is just right for enjoying the wildlife and conversation. The bottom is grassy but the water was clear enough to see fish and turtles. Nice easy going paddle.

I drive from Ann Arbor to Milford just to get a haircut by Belinda and a spa treatment, massage, and/or facial by the owner of Polished Outlook (sorry, I cannot remember her name) who learned her special trade in Europe. I've been doing this for about 5 years now and I wouldn't have anybody else cut/style my hair. Belinda understands my hair like no one before her and I always leave Polished Outlook looking and feeling better that I did since the last time. As long as I can drive there, I will continue to go there. Belinda had her own salon in Belgium before she came here and takes periodic classes in New York with some master hair stylist (again, a name escapes me). I heard about Polished Outlook from a friend who lived in Milford. After I leave Polished I usually go shopping and then to Palate for dinner. I always look forward to my trips to Milford even in the winter.

Kensington Mills Falls Mini Golf

This miniature golf place is somewhat unique in that there are lots of trees and plants around the course. You get a very nature feel to it. You get 18 holes to play on with slanted courses, rock formations that block you path, multi tier path hole, inside a small cave and over water. It is a bit confusing when you first come because you think you need to go up to the red building as was the case in the past. But enter the building to the left. At first you feel like you are entering a preschool but just go to the left and you will find a room with many table and chairs to sit at for a snack or a birthday party. There is a small snack bar here if you are hungry and tables outside to sit at. This is where you pay to play the course. You can pick from various sizes of the golf clubs and pick a colored ball from several different colors. i very much enjoyed my time on the course. Adults cost $6.00 to play, children 5 to 12 years old $5.00, children 4 and under $3.00.

Mystic Creek Golf Course

Mystic Creek Golf Course stands on the grounds of sprawling Camp Dearborn, quietly tucked away in the tranquility of the Northern Oakland countryside. It has been recognized as one of Detroit's best public golf courses since its opening in 1997. Offering 27 holes of challenging and scenic championship golf, this Camp Dearborn gem is a favorite among golfers year after year. Mystic Creek is conveniently located near every major city in the greater Detroit area. It is within a 30-minute drive from Detroit and Ann Arbor and only 45 minutes from Lansing, making it an ideal retreat for entertaining clients and friends or for simply escaping the hustle and bustle of the normal routine. While Mystic Creek offers a 15,000 square foot, full-service clubhouse, the three distinct nine-hole courses are the centerpiece of the facility. Choose two or play all three.

DO NOT GIVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT ANY BUSINESS.. DO NOT BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES. For the past 8 years I have been purchasing golf gift certificates for my parents and friends. They come to Mystic each summer for golf and use their Christmas gift. Now they will not honor them anymore. We are stuck with 300.00 in gift certificates. What a RIP OFF.

Go golf at Kensington, St. John's, Tyrone Hills and a plethora of others before going here.
