Punderson State Park

Reviewed By Greg D - Angel Fire, New Mexico

Really enjoyed our stay at this campground while visiting Cleveland. It's only about 30 minutes away from downtown with the Rock Hall and West Side Market - both highly recommended. Full hookup sites are VERY limited but water and electric sites seem to be fairly plentiful. Lake across the road and being away from the city noise is excellent. It's on our must stay again location for anytime we're in the area.

End of the Commons General Store

Reviewed By TravelbyFrank - Angola, New York

The huge building's from 1840 and is well stocked with a large variety of everything Amish and country from food, housewares and souvenirs. For example there are two large cupboards just for popcorn varieties and sesame sticks. I would suggest stopping here first before shopping any place else. There is a Deli counter and a ice cream counter next to the large dining area. Enjoy the old time décor also.

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park

Reviewed By Tweentrails - Oklahoma

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is only 167 acres but it has a fascinating variety of crevices, cliffs, caves, rock formations, and waterfalls. Since my first visit six years ago, the parking lot has been enlarged and the pit-toilet bathroom improved. Also boardwalks were added to aid footing and keep the paths out of water. Unfortunately, the boardwalks are breaking down and--to my knowledge--the paths have never been well marked. Many of the "trails" were created simply by people exploring at random. If you're serious about a visit, it's important to run off copies of the maps on the park's website (parks.ohiodnr.gov/nelsonkennedyledges). Though there are some potentially hazardous dropoffs and crevices in a few spots, this park can with supervision be a good place for children to explore.

Century Village Museum

Reviewed By Sheila S - Burton, Ohio

We live in the town where Century Village is located. We attend most activities offered there. My children grew up going to pioneer school there. It's a great advantage to have this museum in our community. Schools come from far and wide. Civil War is the annual highlight but all activities are excellent family fun. Apple Butter Festival is yummy in autumn with freshly-made apple butter and kettle corn. Beautiful location year 'round. Worth a Sunday drive for families. Town also has restaurants and shops of interest.

Cleveland Skydiving Center

Reviewed By Mark M - North Ridgeville, Ohio

For years, I've thought about jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. My family and friends thought I was nuts.

Well, I am and I did... and I would do it again! And I'm glad I chose the Cleveland Skydiving Center for my first time.

Although you won't find a fancy airport at 15199 Grove Road in Garrettsville, Ohio; you will find a staff of well trained instructors that work hard to make your jump as safe and fun as possible. Of course, you will sign a waiver promising not to sue should something go wrong - but that's what you have to expect for a "rush of a lifetime!" Hey, if President George H W Bush can do it on his 85th birthday - than how tough can it be?

Tandem jumping takes minimal training because the instructor you're attached to controls most of the activity. The training - watching a video and one-on-one instruction takes about an hour.

My package included photos of myself and a friend receiving instruction, putting on the jump gear, boarding the plane, the actual jump and landing - all provided on a CD as a slideshow. The photos with this review were part of my package. You can also upgrade to live video for an extra charge.

Once you complete your jump, you'll want to get a t-shirt commemorating the experience. They even have one that has skydiving checked off on a bucket list - very cool!

I would suggest bringing all the staff from your office for a real "team-building" experience. Yeah, that'll happen. ;-)

Recently rebuilt and tucked into the woods, this covered bridge is hard to enjoy. Perhaps for the more adventurous, you can trek through the woods or down in the valley or perhaps enjoy in the winter. For me it wasn't worth the drive down, but for fans of covered bridges it might be.

Headwaters Park

Reviewed By WHMeg - Willoughby Hills, Ohio

This 926 acre property provides loads of opportunities for all who enjoy the outdoors. Of course there is hiking, but there are also opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking and boating! You can also access the Buckeye Trail and the Maple Highlands Trail, a great biking option. Our hiking group did a five-mile round trip hike utilizing some of the many available options. The Headwaters Boathouse, a reservable shelter, is a gorgeous gathering place, with an indoor fireplace, heat and electricity. Many outdoor picnic tables complement this space. This park is a great place for a hiking group to meet, or for a family gathering.

Rothenbuhler Cheese Chalet

Formerly known as Middlefield Cheese, Rothenbuhler Cheesemakers has been producing delicious Swiss cheese varieties of high quality since 1956, when Hans Rothenbuhler made its first 250 lb. wheel of cheese. Hans and his wife Ann worked as a team in creating Middlefield Cheese, with Ann running the retail store, known today as the Rothenbuhler Cheese Chalet. Today, the company is led by the couple's son, John, who leads with the same passion and commitment to quality as his father. The Cheese Chalet offers a wide selection of meats and cheeses cut to order, fresh sandwiches, bakery items, local and gourmet products, and of course samples of our Swiss! The store has become a destination not to be missed-come by for a taste to see for yourself why!

Reviewed By PLSC76 - Middlefield, Ohio

As a life long resident of the Middlefield/Burton area, I was sadden to see the changes to Middlefield Cheese House especially its name change. Gone are the ladies who helped you with ordering your Christmas baskets. Gone is the charm of shop with its local products. A sure indication of the change can be seen in the Saturday morning parking lot, no cars.
