We booked a large, expensive catamaran with them. We had a very experienced skipper. On our first day, they had him take us out and spent an unnecessarily LONG time having him show he can maneuver the boat. Then, after we left the port for the day, Mark sent us an email telling us that we can't go beyond certain (fairly close) boundaries without paying $250 fee. We sent an email back stating that we would pay the fee since we didn't know where we wanted to go. Then he replied back and said it was too late. That made no sense. We know what he was doing. He was trying to keep us from hanging out with another group of yachts that were doing a tour of the Abacos. We were not affiliated with them, but Mark kept suggesting that we were. There's nothing in the contract prohibiting us from hanging out with other yachts and we did want to hang with other people. He had our full deposit well before the trip and we are a very responsible group of people. This caused us to have to dock our boat for a few days and adjust plans, which in turn cost us more money. Then, the last day we were able to meet back up with the group of yachts for a night. As soon as we returned to the dock, Mark came by and said he saw us from his house the night before with the group of yachts. He wasn't mean at this point, his mood changed because he realized that the yacht was in perfect condition, spotless, and we were extremely responsible.
All in all, I understand that Mark was worried, but he handled the whole situation in a poor manner. Mark should not expect people to check email when already out on the water. He really disrupted our trip, made us worry when we didn't even do anything wrong, we felt watched and monitored the whole trip, and it was just overall uncomfortable and not enjoyable. For those reasons, I can't recommend Cruise Abaco.

Wow, what a great week of diving. We had good weather, sea conditions and visibility each day. Every tank was at a different site and the salient feature of each location was described to us by Capt. Keith before we dropped in. He would then lead us on a detailed three dimensional tour of the area. I was struck by both the number of sites visited and the numerous features and swim troughs at each site. Because the dives are principally in the Bahamas Fowl Cays National Park there is the advantage of a lively fish and wild life population undisturbed by commercial actions. The humor, enthusiasm and lively conversations top-side, as well as the help and support of his mate completed the great experience. Definitely Dive Abaco!

My son and his friend went through there Open Water dive here. Both Dive masters were engaging, funny, and inspired the sometimes cranky teens to do the work. Highlight of the boys trip was the diving. Highlight of the Moms trip was tagging along underwater...MoreThanks for taking the time to share, we are so glad you enjoyed your dives. The expressions on your kids faces as they came out of the water was priceless! Happy diving and we hope to see you again soon.

Sail The Abacos

The 57' catamaran "Shearwater" sails out of Marsh Harbor in the beautiful Abaco island chain in The Bahamas. Home to the 3rd largest barrier reef in the world the Abaco out Islands offer a fantastic mixture of solitude, on the water activities and Bahamian culture. Owner/operator Captain Clayton "Bruce" Ost caters to a wide variety of vacation charter needs.

We spent an entire day on this magnificent boat from 9am-9pm with Bruce and Tricia. We had an amazing vacation for a week in the Abacos but this was definitely the highlight of the trip! First of all Bruce is an amazing captain and loves to sail and most importantly he wants to make sure you have a great time! His mate Tricia was wonderful and made sure everyone was comfortable all day and had what they needed as well helping Bruce run the boat. The boat is immaculate. Bring your food and drinks and make sure you have enough as you will be out all day. We went to Hope Town as well as snorkeled on a beautiful reef and ended with a sunset and captain Bruce (ex-aerosmith member!) played his guitar and sang to the group! We had 8 people of teens and adults and everyone had the best day ever. I cant say enough great things about this day and when I go back this will be booked well in advance!

Lucayan Nature Tours

Reviewed By Cinnamonbun1 - Kingsville, Maryland

We learned about Reggie and Lucayan Nature Tours here on Trip Advisor, and made arrangements in advance for a tour our first day on the island. We were especially interested in seeing native bird species, and it exceeded our expectation. We went to parts of the island we could never have found on our own, and Reggie knew the best places to spot the Cuban Parrot, the most colorful (and noisy!) local bird. Well worth the cost of the tour for the two of us. Lots of fun, lots of info, lots of birds.

Blue Wave Boat Rentals

Reviewed By trailsendtravel - Birmingham, Alabama

Had reserved a boat with blue wave on a recommendation. Arrived at the marina, filled out a quick form, and was led to my boat for four days, a 27' center console with twin outboards. Boat was in great shape. Motors cranked with no problems. We had 6 guys fishing and snorkeling out of the boat and were able to get around the island with ease. Will definitely rent from blue wave again.

This place is great! We went to Abaco Neem as part of a tour of the Abaco Islands. This was pretty much our first stop after breakfast, and it was an enjoyable visit! The inside is very nice and there are an array of products that all specifically use the Abaco-grown Neem plant.
The owner, Barbara, was very helpful and knew so much about the wonders of this plant. Her husband, Nick, also showed up and he told us the story of how the company came to be. It was fun to hear about all the benefits of using Neem products and you can find soaps, animal products, pest repellents and quite a few other things.
Unfortunately we were on a tight schedule so we were unable to take a tour of the agricultural part, but it was fascinating and would love to visit again. We even bought a Neem plant to take home and its doing rather nicely!
I would definitely recommend this place for people tired of all the pesticides and chemicals that they have to use for everyday items, and I learn about more uses for it as I continue my research.

Carolina Gentleman Sportfishing

Reviewed By Dick R - Golden, Colorado

If you want a first class fishing adventure, the Carolina Gentlemen charter is the way to go. The cost is reasonable and worth every penny. My wife and I had a fun 2 days trying to catch the illusive marlin. Skipper did everything he could to put us on fish, and we did get 5 marlin strikes. We ended up catching mahi mahi, yellow fin tuna, and wahoo. His first mate is experienced and worked hard to make our day successful.
We stopped for lunch on another island and were able to do things we otherwise would not have experienced. Skipper fixed yellow fin sashimi for us after we got back from a days fishing, and it was outstanding. The Carolina Gentlemen is a modern, up to date sport fishing yacht, and is kept immaculate with all the modern gear and conveniences. My wife and I are planning a 2nd trip in June to try our luck again for marlin. Where ever the Carolina Gentlemen goes, I will be there.
Regards,
Colonel Dick Rosser, USMC (Ret.)
