The Buen Kulturshus or the Buen Cultural House is a very nice modern building right in the centre of Mandal. It's nice to take a walk around it outside, and then maybe have a cup of coffee or something to eat at the café inside and take a short walk inside the house itself. It houses both the library and the cinema in Mandal.
Visited multiple times.

The factory was built in 1894, and has been designated a national monument to the textile industry in Norway. Today the factory is a living museum with its own power station, dye house, spinning mill, weaving mill and finishing plant. If you go on a guided tour, you will be able to see the various machines and production prosesses in action. In the summer season, from 15.6-20.8 Guided tours of the factory starts at 11 a.M., 1 And 3 pm. Wool workshop for children starts at 2 pm. Our shop, with products produced at the factory, is open Monday to Friday 11-15.

Fine tour which you need to take.
Exhibits or rather potentially operating machines the mill. You will find all parts wool manufacture from raw wool to beautiful blankets If you are lucky they have someone working for instance to make blankets

On Tuesdays in July, at 6 pm, the tourist office organises guided walks through the historic town centre of Mandal. Meet at the tourist office ten minutes in advance. NOK 50,- per person.

Mandal is Norway’s most southern city, with approx 14,000 inhabitants. The town has many small, white-painted wooden houses, which is typical of towns at the south coast of Norway, also referred to as Sørlandet. The city is separated by the salmon river, Mandalselva, but in 2015 Adolph Tidemands bro connected the city’s culture house to the city centre, as well as the old and new part of the city.

Mandal public library is everything you expect a modern library to be. You can use our free WiFi from your own internet device, or you can use one of our public machines. Printing, scanning and copying is also possible for a small fee. Of course we have books too. Loads and loads of them. All residents of Norway are free to loan from our collection.

I visited the Mandal library couple of times when I lived there. The building itself is very nice, a modern one still with a turf roof. There is a big variety of books and there are also computers available.
P.S. The very lovely staff can print and scan documents etc. for a small fee.
7. Island of Skjernoy Bike Trail

Length: 22 kilometres - (including the walk: 25 kilometres). Level: Light Start from the Tourist Information Office and follow the cycle path along the E39 towards Kristiansand. After about 3 km, take the turn off to Tregde. A further 2 km down the road, turn off towards to Skjernoy. This is Norway's southernmost inhabited island. You will find excellent terrain here, both for walking and cycling. Cycle over the bridge and turn right at the foot of the hill to Skjernoysund. The stretch between Skjernoysund and Dyrstad is along bike paths built during the 1880s. You will also see Dyrstad School from 1877. The remainder of the ride is on busy country roads. When you come to the chapel at Farestad, turn left and follow the road back to Mandal.

Skjernøy located about 12 km east of Mandal. Easiest access is by car. Drive to the church, where you can park your car. Make your way around the island, about 1 to 1½ hours leisurely walking. The nicest part of the trip is from Dyrstad to Skjernesund, it runs on a narrow dirt road without traffic.
Make your way up to Grotevarden, the island's highest mountain, about 105 m above sea level. Another great point for view is the Høgearden. From the parking place located at the church is approx metre 100 m to go to Amtestien, that's leads right up. Here is a coastguard station 1898 and a great view all around the horizon.
A tour around Rossnes bay is also recommendable. Start by the hanging bridge across the bay. and take approx halve a hour, perhaps a little more in some easy difficult terrain. It may in some places be wet if it has recently rained.

The town museum is located in a magnificent merchant’s house built in 1805. The museum is home to southern Norway’s largest exhibition on fish, which shows how techniques and equipment have developed over time in the area. The museum also has its own art collection, including Norway’s largest public collection of works by Amaldus Nielsen, probably the most famous artist from southern Norway. There are also works by other local artists such as Adolph Tidemand, Olaf Isaachsen and Gustav Vigeland. You may also vistit the childhood home of the artists Gustav and Emanuel Vigeland at Vigeland Hus in Mandal, only some minutes walk from Mandal museum. The museum houses a worksohop and a small sculpture garden.

The movie theatre is located inside the Buen Cultural House in Mandal. It's a nice modern movie theatre and the seats are comfortable. The shop to buy some snacks before the movie begins is not that big and doesn't have a lot of variety but it's sufficient. Don't expect late-night showings since the latest I ever went to the movies was at 20:30!

The playground is located behind Kulturhuset Buen which is connected to the city centre by walking bridge. Playground has both recreational equipment and park furniture. It features a couple of swing sets, trampoline (out of order at time of visit), mini- climbing wall, thightrope, waterpump, speak-and-listen device, two hammocks, cycle carousel.
Theres many benches inspirering you to bring your lunch. Also some shaded sitting areas. Kiosk located in the Kulturhuset building.
The playground doesn't cater very well for children younger than two or three years of age. There's no sandbox either. Parking is ample and on-site. Admittance is free.
