We happened on to this small place just driving through Los Alamos. We were looking for a light late lunch and this was perfect. Every dish was delicious. Our favorites were the Padron chilis, the brussel sprouts, the charcuterie, and Moroccan olives. Couldn't believe our good luck and would highly recommend. Wine tasting is available too.

Within driving distance to LA or Santa Barbara this is a great place to visit. There is plenty to do including camping, wine tasting, shopping and a casino. Solvang is an interesting Dutch style town with loads of shops, antiques and a theater. There are many restaurants with European style menus and lots of bakeries.

The old Spanish Mission is a State Park. There is a newish museum by the parking lot. The mission buildings were restored by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s largely using the original building methods (with added rebar!). The guided tour takes about 90 minutes an the 'interpreters' are very knowledgeable. One gets a great sense of the history of the place.

Martian Ranch and Vineyard

Reviewed By bestshoeshopper - Los Angeles, California

There are so many wineries and vineyards in the Los Olivos/Santa Barbara/Santa Maria area. Martian is seriously the place to go. Totally tucked away on Alisos Canyon Road, it was a private and perfect spot to spend a Saturday afternoon. My fiance and I decided to make an impromptu trip to the area to go wine tasting. I had heard of this winery from a coworker of mine and decided why not stop by. It was such a beautiful day and after stopping by a couple other wineries, we happened to find this place, which is off a side road off the main Foxen Canyon Road. Are we happy we did! We actually ended up loving the place so much that we just continued to hang out with the staff and other patrons at Martian and spent the entire rest of our afternoon there until well after closing. Go here and you will not be disappointed!!! My fiance and I have already decided that we are gonna go back at some point for a tour of the vineyards and maybe enjoy bringing our own lunch and chill out on their picnic benches outside. I can't say enough great stuff about Martian...their wines and their service are really amazing!!! we ended up buying 5 bottles! =)

A beautiful winery, and there's plenty of places to sit inside or out. There's a couple of wine tastings to choose from, and our host, Cambria, was really friendly and helpful. They do an excellent charcuterie sharer platter, great quality and size, but be aware that the kitchen closes at 4pm - you can pre-order if you are going to arrive after then.

Rusack Vineyards

We are a boutique winery and vineyard, nestled among the oak-studded rolling hills of Ballard Canyon. Our mission is to create world-class, handcrafted wines that reflect our commitment to excellence and our love for this region. That commitment begins in our Estate Vineyard, which we re-planted in 2003 in order to capture the true character of Ballard Canyon, and which we meticulously farm in small lots. It extends to the winemaking process, during which we go to every possible length to achieve the delicate balance of "elegance & power" (Robert Parker, August 2010) for which our wines have become known around the world. Finally, it extends to our label, a Catalina tile, a family legacy symbol of our belief in the beauty of what arises from blending craft, earth, art and family.

A visit to Rusack Vineyards will leave you with a Santa Ynez wine experience that you'll remember forever. It's great on so many fronts. The location is lovely and quintessential Santa Ynez valley wine country. Rolling hills, wind blown oaks and patches of dark green vineyards. A beautiful blend of wine and horse country. The drive along narrow country roads affords great views and the vineyard offers a a gorgeous picnic area under the oak trees. Your palate will be as pleased as your eyes, with great sauv blanc, chard and pinot. The whole vibe is relaxed and casual. Bring a picnic and make an afternoon of it. Some of the best wineries in the area are out in the country so don't expect to slam through the tasting. Take the time, you'll enjoy it.

Unlike all the other wineries that are right off Foxen canyon road, this particular winery is hidden a mile plus into the hills so this visit includes a beautiful drive and great setting. The tasting room itself is smaller than most but even with a large crowd we still got to enjoy our tasting. This winery has a nice outside seating area and it has a more casual atmosphere around it than some other wineries . I didn't care for the Meritage that is supposed to be one of the more popular wines but the Malbec, Syrah and Merlot were all very good.

The Depot Antique Mall and Wine Pub

Reviewed By Rod B - San Jose, California

The Depot Antique Mall is an old wooden building, which believe used to be a train station / stop, still has a lot of the features from the bygone days, like large sliding doors to load / unload train cars. If you enjoy antique shopping then you should enjoy the visit, they especially have a large selection of old wooden furniture, and lots of brick a brack and such. Believe they said that they have 25,000 feet of space, and items for sell in probably 21,000 sf. The staff was very friendly, and helpful with any questions, the also have a beer and wine bar inside and you can sit and have something cool down. Overall a decent selection of items, suspect large majority of the items have come from local farms, houses, business etc .... we pleasantly surprised at the size, volume, and quality of items based on the size of the town. One word of caution ..... the building is not air conditioned, and it does get hot inside, as well as the musty smell ..... it was 101 degrees outside when we visited and inside was extremely hot, they did have a number of fans around inside blowing the air, but was still very hot, would recommend going on a much cooler day like in the 80's or below.
