Beautiful park for hiking, beach combing, relaxing and watching wildlife. We saw lots of birds, sea lions and sea otters when we were there in July.

Spencer Spit State Park

Reviewed By Linscottage - Seattle, Washington

We walked to this park on our last day on Lopez Island, and was so glad that we did! The spit is a marshy, sandy triangle that comes remarkably close to Frosty Island. Birds abound, and the spit is popular for crabbing and digging clams, mussels, etc. Our walk was cool and windy, but it was still lovely, no crowds, we had it pretty much to ourselves. Pits are provided for fires, and the sandy shore was fun to walk. Lots of small pebbles and shells litter the beach, perfect for little ones to find treasures. ;) It is a park that has campsites, though these are closed during winter. I would call this park a must-see if you visit Lopez Island!

Iceberg Point

As another reviewer said, be sure you know where to park and what your route is to reach the sign that.... eventually.....points the way to the Point. It's a fairly long trek in until you reach open space and those wonderful views. Ten minutes or so if you aren't rushing. Take a picnic!

Lopez Island Bike Ride

Suitable for the whole family, Lopez Island features a 30-mile bike circuit that is one of the flattest and tamest in the San Juan Islands.

Reviewed By S M - Portland, Oregon

For the past dozen-plus years, the Lopez Island community has come together to offer a special set of rides for recreational bicyclists. Five of us joined in the fun on this year's 30+ mile ride. We had rented overnight accommodations and were already on the Island, but many bicyclists rode the morning ferry from Anacortes and bicycled up a short hill to the start line. Fortunately, we all enjoyed good bicycling weather and the community's rest stops were refreshing, well-attended, and properly stocked. In the Village, at the ride's finish, the Community Center was the site of celebration, complete with music, and offerings of food and drink. This well-supported ride through the Island's bucolic countryside was a joy and definitely worth repeating.

Blossom Grocery

Fully stocked with all your favorite organic and GMO free grocery items as well a host of local choices from Lopez Island, Blossom Grocery is the oldest natural foods store in the San Juans. It is truly a visit that defies categorization.

Reviewed By Bill M - Lopez Island, Washington

Blossom is a local favorite. Great place to find organic food and other specialty foods. I am a local and we are so happy we have this resource on the island. Well run and well stocked. Now with the new digs there is more room and better displays. They just opened in this location February 2016. Easy to find location in the village.

Lopez Island Vineyards

Nestled on the northwest end of Lopez Island in the San Juan archipelago, just a 45-minute ferry ride from Anacortes, is home of San Juan County’s oldest vineyard and winery. We specialize in unique, gold medal winning, estate grown organic grapes: Madeleine Angevine & Siegerrebe. We also produce and bottle wines from other varietals such as Sangiovese, Malbec & more… harvested from select Eastern WA vineyards. We have lived and grown grapes on our land for over 30 years, and with the help of our family and community, have harvested and produced award-winning vintages consistently since 1989.

Reviewed By bikegem - Bay Area, California

Check out their tasting room in the village. Two locally-grown wines are worth purchase: Madeline Angevine (light and tasty, like a Loire Sancerre) and the Severibe(spelling?), which is a cross between a frisking and Sancerre. Perfect for summer. Too bad the Bay Cafe next door doesn't offer them.

Odlin County Park

Reviewed By GrayRanch - Oregon

We just stopped for a quick visit as we had time to pass before our ferry. We walked on the beach and the dock and enjoyed the views. We could see the campsites from the beach, and it looked like some of them were right on the beach. It has a boat launch, and I think would be a good place to put in a kayak. We were there the last week in September when crowds on the island and the ferries are much less than in summer, so I cannot say how popular this place might be in summer.

We got off of the ferry on Lopez Island and didn't realize that the town (where you rent the bikes) was about 4 miles away! Luckily, we were able to call Edenwild and they brought the bikes and helmets to us at the ferry landing for an extra $30 charge. We biked around the island for about 2 hours and were able leave them in the bike parking by the ferry when we were done.

We had been wanting to go whale watching out of Lopez for years but had one trip cancel on us, this time it was a go...we saw two humpback whales at first closer to the Washington San Juan's but then as we kept going out, which by the way, it was a nice day on the water, in a comfortable boat with plenty of chairs..knowledgeable captain and a sunny area you could step out for fresh air and better photos...ours had a bathroom (head) small though it was...I think about those other Zodiac type boats where people are out for hours without a potty break! Nightmare! We were allowed to bring snacks and drinks so that was nice! Anyway, we went into Canada or right near it chasing the whales, the captain was in communication with other boats of their fleet so they were following them and we motored over to the Orcas and though we stayed a respectful distance away, it was close enough to count them (six of them) - J pod he said. He also talked about Spieden Island (owner of Oakley glasses) owns this island but it was actor John Wayne who placed all the animals there in the first place and owned it originally. We looked for the animals on there ~ Muffalon sheep (35) and counted harbor seals all around it's shores (13) saw bald eagles also (7) It was neat how the captain was able to name all the small, uninhabited islands and knowledge of the area was impressive. We have been going to the San Juans for years, but made me feel like a newbie. It was a great time. Wonderful day out, even without seeing whales it would have been a great day!
