Coronado Heights

Reviewed By ThomasTCat - St. Louis, MO

This is well worth the drive to see the spectacular views of the Kansas countryside. Climbing the steps can be tricky because they are different heights and not uniform, so you have to pay attention when walking on them. Although it was not built by the Spanish explorer, Coronado, and was actually constructed in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration, it is still a great place to visit. There is a wonderful, old cemetery at the bottom of the hill with some extremely unique grave monuments that give you pause to reflect on what their lives must have been like.

Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery

Gallery featuring the artwork of Birger Sandzen.

Reviewed By Freshfallensnow2002 - Colorado Springs, Colorado

No photos will prepare you for experiencing the works of Sandzen in person! This is a lovely gallery that wonderfully displays some very large paintings by Sandzen. Not until you stand in front of the vivid colors and bold brush strokes, will you understand how magnificent they are!
The gallery is kind of in the "middle of nowhere," which adds to the experience, in my opinion, and is well worth the trip.

Mcpherson County Old Mill Museum

Reviewed By ljohnson08 - Littleton, Colorado

An old roller mill that was once water powered is in perfect working condition. To see how every thing was done in a gravity type process in four story building was an example of ingenuity of early manufacturing. The adjacent museum is an outstanding record of history of early kansas with video and displays that are complete rooms of the pioneer time. The staff are very helpful and eager to answer questions. The village, and Swedish display from the St Louis worlds fair were not visited because of the rain, but everyone said they are worth the time.

Bethany Lutheran Church

Reviewed By MKTBE - Topeka, Kansas

Swedish emigrants organized the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Bethany Church in 1869. Construction began at the present location soon after. The exterior edifice is small, but beautiful with an impressive 125 foot spire. The interior includes a large choir loft and pipe organ, sanctuary with large paintings and gorgeous stained glass windows. The hues used in the stain glass windows are bright and cheerful as the sun streams in. Scriptures are carved in Swedish above the front entryway! Lovely church!

Lester Raymer (1907-1991) was an artist and craftsman who worked with paintings, prints, ceramics, woodcarving, stitchery, metals, jewelry and furniture. He was influenced by symbolism and folk art. The Red Barn Studio preserves Lesters work and gives insight into this artist. (A "must see" are the toys he made for wife Ramona every year.)

Courtyard Gallery

Reviewed By nowincolorado - Colorado Springs, CO

The lady working at the Courtyard Gallery was very nice, chatted with us and made us feel welcome.

We had just eaten lunch so we didn't try any of the self-serve bakery items from the back of the store.

We enjoyed looking at the art. We purchased some handmade jewelry.

We were quite impressed with the accuracy and detail given to the wildlife carvings upstairs (see my 3 photos) - however, they were too expensive for us to purchase.

I recommend you visit here for a nice, lovely, relaxing time viewing art & visiting with the host. We enjoyed ourselves.

Reminiscent Antiques and Collectibles

An great antique store in a neat old building. As others have mentioned, everything is well displayed so you don't have to trip over things or try to peer around items to see what you're interested in. Everything is neat and clean, and there's no flea market junk.

You'll find local historical items, things related to Swedish heritage, and lots more.

The proprietor is very friendly and helpful, and just fun to visit with.

A great place to spend some time while in Lindsborg.
