Captain Mendoza and his crew are the best! They really went above and beyond our expectations. Good humble people that love what they do. Before we even got there, Capt Mendoza, had chairs, umbrellas and a table set up for us. Can't wait to come back and get some more fresh pineapple from Luijo!!!
Gracias!!

Paradise Scuba and Snorkeling Center

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Center in Puerto Rico. Explore the Bioluminescent Bay in La Parguera or book scuba diving trips to the Wall.

Reviewed By GahuGrrl - Middlebury, Vermont, USA

We had been wanting to dive La Parguera/the Wall for a while, and finally got a chance to do so. Paradise was recommended as professional and top-rate by our "home" scuba shop in Rincon (Taino) and they were absolutely right. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff helped us enjoy our experience from start to finish. Cachi, our captain for the day and a dive leader also, kept us informed, safe, and laughing. (The Teaser is an awesome boat, too.) Edward and Chiqui (forgive me if I mis-remembered or misspelled anyone's name!) also took great care of us, and each of them offered different information and advice for both of our dives. The sea was a bit rough but once we were in the water it was SO clear, and amazingly beautiful, and the drop down the wall blew my mind. Gotta go back and dive there again for sure!
We found out they had a biobay tour going that night and they said they'd get us on the boat, which they did - and we are so glad we want. After chicken empanadas and some drinks (beer!) we were taken to the bay area, given some great information about the bay and how the dinoflagellates work (it was very cool to hear the process and how/why it might be a brighter or dimmer glow on a given night) and then given some time to jump into the bay and have some fun. What an enjoyable time.
If you are in the area, you gotta go take a dive, snorkel, or bio bay tour with these folks. If you are not in the area.... go to the area and take a dive, snorkel or tour!!!! And enjoy.

Great tour. Capt. Ishmael was great. Read on for details:
Understand that what you can see is based on nature. Have the currents been favorable to trap the plankton in the bay. Is the clear sky and full moon. Ideally you want a night with cloud cover or a covered moon. I went on a cloud free night with a full moon, so while their was minimal color, I could still see the activity.
On the boat tour with this company you take a smaller 8 person boat to the bay, and can get in and out of the boat via ladder. I saw a huge big boat enter just before I left and it was loud and crowded, and nobody can go into the water. The crew just brings up buckets of water.
Cost: $120 for two hours, total. If you are a group of 6, it's $120 total. If you go as a couple, it's $120 total. In short, you charter the boat, it's not a per person price.
Getting on and off the boat at the dock might be difficult with limited mobility. You need to be able to step on or off, though the captain will offer a steady hand and help still the boat. Most kids will be fine.

We used alley tours, looked him up in Google and call and talk to Ishmael. He speaks English very well and is very informative about the ecosystem that creates what you will experience. The Bio Bay at La Parguera it's not affected by Hurricane Maria. Avoid moonlit nights. Best time to go is in a new moon or close to a new moon. Also this is a party area with lots of bars and partying. Avoid the weekends if this isn't your bag. We stayed at La Jamaca. Nice place and would recommend it. Grooms should be around a hundred a night for two adults. Cleaner than most Puerto Rican hotels I've stayed at.

Cool experience very unique little island with tons of sitting areas and beautiful scenery. However no running water, bring your own food and drinks vendors are prohibited from selling food there. Take the things you would like to be stranded with and enjoy. One of a kind. We took a ferry for 10.00 each, great deal worth it.

As they don't really have a beach here, this is what you find:
A pool in the ocean.
We arrived at 4:30 and the watch guy was eager to point out that they close at 5 and we would have to leave.
Well, the restrooms are clean and work.

Guided kayak Tours to Bioluminiscent Waters, Keys and Mangrove Channels of La Parguera Nature Reserve in Lajas, Puerto Rico.

Reviewed By AdamCaldwell - St. George, Utah

Getting this trip set up was a little difficult. Their website is currently down (in the process of revamping), and email communication was not always returned as quickly as one would hope. However, once we were able to speak on the phone, things got arranged just fine. We finally got our trip squared away, and had a great time. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The kayaking was at an easy/relaxed pace, and it was fun to see the water glow as we put our hands or kayak paddles into the water. It is my understanding that the bio bay in Fajardo is better...and the location in Vieques is "the best"...however, if you are already on the west side of Puerto Rico, then this is certainly a trip worth doing. After the trip, head over to Moon's in Parguera for a great tapas dinner.

West Divers

Reviewed By 10-FT-STOP - Flowery Branch, Georgia

For the better part of a decade, our small group of experienced dive buddies has been visiting La Parguera at year end for diving the wall and inshore reefs along Puerto Rico’s SW coast. Marilyn of West Divers has arranged our trips with a smile, and it’s always a pleasure to catch up with her in December. Piloting the newly refurbished (about a year ago) West Divers boat, Johny and Julio navigated us to distant sites not used by other dive operations out of Parguera. They assisted us into and out of the water, kept us fully fueled with sandwiches/snacks and they engaged us in conversation.
The success of our U/W adventures lay with Bam-Bam who has been our guide and mentor for our many trips over the years. The continuity and skills of our team have allowed us to evolve with each trip. Bam-Bam has taken us to multiple, dramatic locations along the Wall and to reefs alive with fish and invertebrates. Bam-Bam is not averse to petting a nurse shark for a photo op, nor is he shy about carefully guiding us close into the undersea life for observing and taking pictures. When we expressed the desire to drift dive a couple of years ago, Bam-Bam accommodated us. It is something we now do routinely. We have been on some dives that covered large distances along the Wall to see sights that other divers would miss by staying at the more commonly visited sites. We have also drifted from reef-to-reef to discover new reefs, one in particular so thrilled Bam-Bam that he quickly surfaced to have the coordinates recorded.
Comradery, stories, knowledge of the region, friendship and the Bimbo’s (!) keep us returning for excellent diving. A big “Thank you” goes to Marilyn, Johny, Julio and Bam-Bam.

I highly recommend this company. The experience was wonderful!!!! The equipment is well maintained. The prices are very reasonable compared to other excursions I've tried throughout the island. Most importantly, the guide Gaby has a pleasant personality. He talks of la parguera with passion! I would love to do another excursion to the Bioluminescent bay with this company in the future!
