The Bugle Boy

I have to admit some bias as we've been visiting the Bugle Boy since it opened. This is easily my favorite listening room. Patrons are quiet so you can focus on the music. The bands cover all styles and periods of American popular music. If they don't have who you want to see tonight, they may next weekend. We especially enjoy the singer songwriter events. Lot's of great memories of the Bugle Boy and their volunteer crew. And even though they are closed to walk in guests, they are live streaming performances every Saturday.

This is one of the very best retail art galleries that I've ever had the pleasure to go in. Every piece in this shop is made by an artisan that is involved in the development. It includes purses, jewelry, and gifts in addition to paintings and drawings. Just wonderful!

Working dairy and farm which hosts tours and has a petting area.

Wonderful and an affordable experience. I , my Daughter and Grandson visited on March 20th. We had a blast taking the tour and interacting with and feeding the animals up close. Faith gave us a wonderful and informative tour of the dairy farm and the hay ride. Unfortunately, there was a previous negative comment from a AllIecollIns where she stated, "... clearly don’t care about their patrons...," however we found just the opposite! They do care about their guest and their safety a great deal. The wearing of a mask due to Covid is optional as per state's guidelines. There were some guest choosing to wear mask and keeping social distancing, while other wore no masks. Use common sense and what is best for the individual. I would highly recommend to any family with children!

Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Site

Reviewed By frogcarguy - Denison, United States

This little historic site, I think it's only 40 acres, is well worth a visit. There are the ruins of the brewery that closed in 1882 and a memorial where the bodies from the black bean massacre are buried. You can walk as much or as little as you want. The trail to the brewery is only about a half mile RT. We walked almost all the trails, almost 3 miles. One thing not really mentioned on the map you are given, is that the trail in the Kreischer Woods is a nature trail with signs pointing out native plants. It is nicely done. Spend some time in the museum so you will know the history behind what you're seeing. We visited in January and had the place to ourselves.

Texas Quilt Museum

The quilts, of which there were many, were among the most beautiful I've seen. Not only were the Kaffe Fassett quilts spectacular, but the traveling exhibit by Texas quilters (two from my neck of the woods) were equally impressive. I had not known that the exhibits change every few months. I'll be back again and again.

Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center

Reviewed By Thequeenbee02 - Muldoon, United States

We visited during an open house and a delightful gentleman gave us a mini tour. It is a beautiful building filled with amazing artifacts, a fantastic library, and a fun gift shop. They had a breathtakingly beautiful nativity set made of olive wood. And the chandelier in the main hall is gorgeous. There are quite a few outbuildings that show life in a simpler time and place. If you are a history buff who likes to learn about other cultures and geography, this is the place for you. We look forward to returning when we have more time!
