La Collegiale Notre Dame des Anges

Reviewed By Jane C - Languedoc-Roussillon, France

This church is quite ordinary from the outside but we went in and gasped in amazement. It is wonderfully decorated in blues and golds. Please go and visit! Words cannot describe its splendour. It was started in the 12 century and the marvellous decorations are from the time of Louis 14th - the Sun King. It was made possible from profits from the waterwheel driven town mills. (Now no longer there except for the waterwheels) The church is being renovated at the moment.

Passerelle des Cimes

We spent almost 3 hours here on a recent day with 4 children between 8-11 years old and everyone - adults included - had a great time. There are several courses available to cater to different ages and within each course, there are multiple "stations" to tackle. Each one includes zip lines and a variety of obstacles to cross and our group found them challenging and lots of fun. They have a few people on staff who speak English and can explain how everything works and provide the safety instructions before getting you going on the courses. There are also lots of staff nearby when you are traversing the course in case of problems, so we felt it was really well managed and very safe. On a hot day, it's great to be in the shade of the pine trees, so from that perspective it's also a great activity in summer.
Couple of tips: call to make a reservation if at all possible. If you don't, it's possible you will find them full and unable to fit you in right away. Also, they take a lunch break, so don't start groups in the middle of the day. We found this out when we arrived shortly before noon and couldn't start for more than an hour. Fortunately, they were kind enough to call over to a little snack place next to Canoe Evasion (right around the corner) to check if we could have lunch there first, which we did. I can highly recommend that place for lunch - it's practically a shack, but it turns out beautifully presented and yummy food with friendly service. We loved it!

While there are other facilities here, the main reason for my visit was to play golf and indeed I think that is the best way to appreciate this attraction. There is also a pool and other facilities for the less energetic.
The course is well maintained with water hazards featuring on 5 holes and plenty of bunkers and lots of trees. The sand in the bunkers is of varying quality. Clubbing can be tricky especially in trying to judge the wind. The greens are very well maintained.
However one of the big attractions are the views which are very pretty and the photos don't do it justice. Would love to play it again.

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Market

I am a stall holder on the antiques market and it is a super colourful place to work and visit. The market is on every sunday from around 8 am, there is a general markey selling local produce and many other things to tempt you. Along the Ave 4 hostages there is the antique market that is open all day, there is a variety of antiques and unique different things to look at and purchase as a souveneer from provence. Each year there are 2 INTERNATIONAL ANTIQUE FAIRS one at Easter and the other is over the 15th August each year when the whole town explodes with antiques, art and wierd and wonderful things to buy and look at. Check it out and come along you will not be dissapointed.

This market takes over town. You can buy all types of food, clothing, tablecloths and all the wares of the area. It is fun to walk around and talk to merchants. The Thursday market is smaller and less crowded. The Sunday market is crazy between 9 and 12 because all the tours arrive!!!!

This winery was recommended by our hosts at Au Chant des Sorgues. Their recommendation gave us 5% discount on our purchases, but we would have enjoyed it anyway. Guillaume was delightful and the choices of wines, especially from the Chateauneuf-du-pape was broad. I would recommend the stop if you are in the Gordes area.

La Source de La Sorgue

Reviewed By Mira V - Smarje Pri Jelsah, Slovenia

A 15-minute walk starting in the small town of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and ending in a narrow shady gorge takes you to the spring of the river Sorgue. The walk is pleasant and does not require much effort. The gorge is suddenly blocked by a vertical rock, which is over 250 meters high. This is really a memorable sight. Water Springs from everywhere. Springtime is probably the most appropriate time to visit, since masses of water merge from all directions to form the picturesque river Sorgue (I suppose the water comes from the snow melting in the mountains). This is really something to enjoy. And when one is returning to the town, there are lots of small shops and restaurants along the way. The souvenirs seem to be quite original and not the same as everywhere else.

Just out of town is this wonderful place (and you can drive, walk there or catch the tourist train) .... here the river Sorgue divides ...right to Isle & left to Velleron. I love this place and even this afternoon we drove "the loop". There are 3 eating places the best for me is on the corner. Yes you can have 3 courses or coffee or sweets.
You can bring your own food & sit on the grass or tables & chairs
You can fish or swim or feed the ducks. Maybe do a yoga class.
This place is very special, every guest we get, I always take them there. You to will love the peace & quiet. Nature at it best.
