Kovalam Beach

Reviewed By SandeepBinPune - Pune, India

We visited Kovalam Beach in early November and stayed at the Neelkanta (60 year old hotel with no lift and with pathetic infrastructure) which is located right on the beach. We could hear and see the Arabian sea from our room and watched many glorious sunsets from there. The boats return in the evening with lights on and make for a serene dusk sight.

Neyyar Dam

This is an old dam on Neyyar river located inside a forest area. Great scenic beauty. They have Lion/Deer/Crocodile Safari. But those are ok type. If one loves nature, he can visit this cool and quiet place. This place only has one restaurant operated by KTDC. Don't expect too much from them. But snacks and hot beverages are easily available.

Hawa Beach

Reviewed By SandeepSaxena-IIP - Dehradun, India

Hawa Beach, popularly known as Eve's Beach, is the most popular of the three beaches of Kovalam. This beach lies opposite to Lighthouse Beach and is full of palm groves. Swimming is not preferred at this beach as the currents are quite strong. Tourists can be seen sunbathing and getting herbal massages at this beach. Catamaran rides can also be availed at Hawa Beach. Due to next to Lighthouse beach so again lots of restaurants selling fresh seafood and tourist shops.I had the most amazing local seafood dishes over there. If you bargain with the restaurants you can get a very good price for the fresh seafood dishes. Its very safe as there are frequent police patrols

Vellayani Lake

Reviewed By JojijosephTDPA - Kochi (Cochin), India

Few months back I went to Vellayani for an official purpose which took just 15 minutes and I spent almost two hours sitting by the side of the narrow but well constructed road enjoying the beauty of the lake. The lake is just 15 minutes drive from Kovalam but it is a fresh water lake. Right place to spend some time enjoying the natural beauty of the lake and sunset without the trouble of the crowd or small vendors. Easily accessible from Trivandrum & Kovalam.

Adimalathura Beach

Reviewed By kasthurenr - Aarhus, Denmark

Adimalathura Beach is the place to go for a quiet visit at the beach. For tourists this area is just known for Azhuvedic treatment resorts, but we went there and the beach is clean because and not crowded because of the resorts. Nobody is trying to sell you anything and it's so beautiful with the palms and greenery next to the beach, furthermore with local farming and cows in between, not to forget the local feeling you get when you see all the fishermen take their boats in the evening for night fishing. There is a sea food restaurant at the place, where you can meet this really friendly man called Raveendran (Joseph), a former tourist guide who had enough of the buzzing at Kovalam. His food is good and his staff so friendly and local. For a local and peaceful beach visit, this is the place to go!
